Iverson and nine of his teammates participated yesterday in a basketball clinic for about 60 members of the Special Olympics after the 76ers' practice. He and Chris Webber headed the shooting part of the one-hour session, and each had a team of players who lined up to shoot layups and short jumpers, with the winner being the first to 10 baskets.

"I just wanted my team to beat his," Iverson said with a laugh.

"It just lets you know how competitive basketball is," he said. "They were going through the little games, and they obviously were trying to win. Just to see how excited they were, it's just a day that I'll remember, being a part of it, having something to do with it and just putting smiles on their faces."

Iverson, who received the loudest round of applause during introductions, and his teammates were quick with high fives and handshakes for all the participants. The youngsters wore red "NBA Cares" T-shirts, and their camera-toting parents snapped away from the seating area.

"It's a lot better than being with adults, because the kids appreciate it so much," he said. "You can just see it on their faces. I just feel blessed because they want to interact with me, of all the people in the world. That's a good feeling."
