<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">On a team lacking international experience, Iverson's eight starts with the Senior National Team are second only to Duncan's 21.

It's no wonder that the Team USA players unanimously voted Iverson as a team co-captain with Duncan.

"Allen has earned this," U.S. head coach Larry Brown said.

"He deserves it. It'll be good for him."

Not bad for a guy who was one of the last players added to the core team that was supposed to compete in Athens and whose selection was the most controversial.

"It's crazy because never in my life have I been the oldest player on a team," Iverson said.

"I'm just glad Tim Duncan is here, too. It makes me feel like I'm getting old, but it's good to have some of these young, up-and-coming stars like LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony and Dwyane Wade here. We can win with them. I know I've got to be a leader on the team, and I don't have a problem with that. I don't have a problem with being a captain."</div>

Ya Iverson is a great leader. Better than TIm Duncan. He will lead the team to victory along side Tim Duncan.

That is great new for Iverson. After being one of the last members selected for team usa to now being the captin just shows how true the his saying that only the strong survive holds. Its a great honor for him to be on the team let alone the captin I dont think he ever expected this.

I think with him being named the captin some of the setio types who say he shouldnt be there because of the way he looks (tatoos braids) will finally see how great a player he really is. He will reprecent philly without any question with great honor. He said when he first went in that he wanted to just represent philly the best he can now he will represent the world the best he can.

Found this on the Sixers ESPN Message Board by a user who, by the way, bares the name of "howardeskinIII"... how ironic. Anyways, kinda made me mad:

Allen Iverson named co-captain of the US olympic team. Now here is a guy I want representing me. What an absolute joke.

Looking at his other posts... also made rude remarks about the Phillies. [IMG]
