<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">- He was always a braided, tat tooed, gun-toting, hip-hopping hobgoblin from a middle-class nightmare. Allen Iverson would come dribbling into your living room on television, from any NBA arena, anywhere, Philly to L.A, and many viewers were tempted to check the dead-bolt locks on the door.

"I think a lot of people - even though they are wrong - see me as a symbol of what's wrong with the NBA," Iverson said.

So look whom the American eagle just dropped in our midst as a potential savior, basketball-wise, and an undeniable patriot, otherwise. An elder statesman at the age of 29, a co-captain of Team USA, Iverson might be the best chance the United States has to win the Olympic gold medal in Athens.

This has developed after Kevin Garnett and Shaquille O'Neal dropped out because the gold medal is, like, so 2000. And after Vince Carter got married. And after Tracy McGrady - darn that faulty Palm Pilot - forgot his own nuptials conflicted with Athens. And after Jason Kidd had an ouchy. And after Rip Hamilton and Ben Wallace, who are American coach Larry Brown's own Detroit players, said the word "security" in Athens is Greek to them. And after Kobe Bryant had to go to court to explain his (at best) philandering ways in a rape case.

"He should be named to every All-Star team and every Olympic team," said the Cavaliers' LeBron James. "He should be the captain. He's a leader. To be that size, not 6 feet, but 5-11 or 5-10 and to be as tough as he is, he's the best."</div>

This article moved me, Bill's use of words in this article is inspiring and show once again why we love Allen Iverson. Why we look past his criminal history, his tatoos, his overall gangster image, and embrace him for his basketball skills, and human relations that so often get overshadowed by his appearance.

As a Sixers fan I am really proud of AI's off season so far.

He seems like he has grown up and matured a lot more,he isnt the same kid who used to go to VA every offseason it finally looks like he is ready to work and is serious about wining a ring.

As a wise man once said age brongs wisdom and it seems to have done that for AI this off season. He has matured into a respected person around the USA for his actions of staying on the USA team while the others slowly dropped out. He improved his attitude when everyone thought this would be a off season were he was either traded or whinned about from office personal.

He did alot considering were he came from a childhood growing up in a small town in VA. With no electricty or any of the neccessaries in his childhood. From those 5 months he spent in prison before for the fight he was in. To come back spend three years at georgetown and become what he has become today is truly increadable. His story is very inspring and I am proud of him as most every sixer fan is for his actions this off season.

Why not suprised by lebron? He doesnt have a history of ever being late for practice and he seems to have been dying to be ready to amaze people at this weekends game. O well people mess up no one is perfect though if lebron had the jordan image that everyone says he does he would be near perfect.

The message was sent by larry to all three players equally hopefully the media doesnt over rate this and blame it all on AI. Like they tend to do most of the time. They will probable do it though because of the press surrounding the usa team do to the fact there the only basketball team playing this time of the year.
