<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>JACKSONVILLE, Florida (Ticker) -- The Jacksonville Jaguars on Friday signed defensive end Quentin Groves, the club's second-round pick in April's draft. Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but the Florida Times-Union is reporting that the contract is for four years and worth around $3.3 million. Selected 52nd overall, Groves played in 11 games - seven starts - and had 38 tackles and three sacks with Auburn during his senior year, which was hampered with toe injuries. Over his collegiate career, the 6-3 defensive end had 117 tackles and 26 sacks with the Tigers. The signing of Groves leaves only defensive end Derrick Harvey, the eighth overall pick, as the only Jaguars rookie who has yet to sign.</div> I know they took some flack for their draft... But I like the trade up for Harvey and taking Groves in round 2. They really needed help generating a pass rush and they got two edge rushers. That was probably one of the biggest things they lacked against the Patriots; generating pressure (and on the season, in general)
How much of an impact do you see them having in their rookie seasons? I don't know much about them, but I am interested to see if the Jags can continue to build off their progress last year and take the next step.
Dunno. DE isn't really a position where you see immediate impact as a rookie. Harvey has very good size and impressive athleticism. I think Groves will be a situational type pass rusher as a rookie. Harvey might get a chance at starting, especially with (name escapes me) leaving to New Orleans...
