Makes sense, considering Raptors general manager Rob Babcock used to work for Kevin McHale in Minnesota. No word on who Toronto might receive in return for Rose -- although Wally Szczerbiak?s name seems to keeping being mentioned by those who like to speculate. </div> Read The Rest -------------- This is interesting, I wonder who the Raptors would get if its not Szczerbiak?
Not good for Minnesota. Jalen is nothin more than a younger, less athletic version of Spree. He wines, complains, and thinks he's better than he actually is. Is it me? Or Minnesota seems like they settle for mediocore too much.
I definetly dont think the Wolves should give up Wally for Jalen because Jalen is getting old and Wally will develop into a better player

He may complain about playing time every now and then, but if it wasn't for his contract, I'm sure lot's of teams wouldn't mind having him on their team. He definitely isn't a team cancer like Latrell.

The Wolves have lost Hoiberg, so Wally is they're best and most efficient shooter. Why would you trade him for somebody who has jacked up 3's his whole career. I hate calling players ball hogs, but Jalen does sit on the ball quite a bit. Could be another one of many terrible moves the Wolves have made this offseason.

Rose was and still is one of the most versatile players in the league. He can score, rebounding has gone down, but he can still give you good numbers for a SG, and he can still make great pin point passes. He does think he is better than what he is sometimes, I'll admit that, but he's still the best scorer on the Raptors.
I like Wally, but I don't think he'll be good in Toronto. He's an excellent shooter which would compliment a up and coming low post threat, but what more can you say about him than that? At least Rose is someone who is someone who's versatile with experience. When you look at it, Rose shot a higher 3P% taking and making more than Wally. From the field, Wally shoots pretty well at 50.6%, but is that additional 5% from Wally worth it? You should also take into consideration many of Wally's shots are open one's that KG creates. The Raptors don't have someone who can demand that type of respect right now. In terms of money, he costs 25 million more than Rose and his contract is two years younger. In addition, his health is a major concern and he might go down unexpectingly. Overall, this won't be a great move for the Raptors. Rose is less expensive and expiring soon and gives more production than Wally. Unless the Raptors are getting some young talent or some picks, I wouldn't do this deal. Just my opinion, though.
Wally is nice, he can hit the open shot, has a nice post up game himself, and is a very efficient scorer. He's also improved his ability to create off the dribble for himself, and for others. Wally isn't a 3PT shooter though, he can hit them, but he doesn't like to take many three's, think someone like Bobby Simmons, cash money from mid-range, and a high 3PT%, but with not too many attempts. I don't know if I'd do it. Wally is 4 years younger, but his contract goes for 2 more years than Rose. We don't need a 3rd option guy making $12 and $13 million 2 years after we sign Bosh.
I actually like this trade for the Raptors, but I have no idea why the TWolves would even consider this. If the TWolves want to unload Wally's contract, they can get much better talent in return than Jalen Rose. I don't think Wally is involved, I have a feeling it's Olowokandi (who is being shopped) and Trenton Hassell, possibly a draft pick.
Man, you guys are trashing my boy while I have my back turned for a few minutes (more like a few days)...Let's get this straight. Jalen Rose is not a mediocre player - any team would take this guy if it wasn't for his dinosauric contract; just as my man, Bobcats was saying. Jalen is a veteran leader, I believe the Raps would've crumbled last season without this dude's leadership both on and off the court. He didn't whine last season after being put on the bench. He kept his mouth shut and played his game off the bench and became even better. A cancer? Never, this guy is one of the most respected players in the game. Remember a couple of years ago when his elbow and his pinky was injured and he kept wanting to play and even dunked. His kind of player is very rare. He actually has heart.

Atleast Cassell made them count. Anybody can be a leader on a horrible team, but I don't think Rose can be effective on a team like Minnesota. Minnesota would have to be insane to trade a good shooter in Wally, for a shot-jacker like Rose. Jalen gets too easily caught up in one on one duels, in which I've barely seen him win. I just don't see why Minnesota would even think about making this trade.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Let's get this straight. Jalen Rose is not a mediocre player </div> So what is he, a star? He's an above average player at best, he's not an All-Star, so he can't be any more than that.

If we are really going to be careful about how we are spending our money and we add on that contract, it's really pathetic. I think the worst kept secret in the NBA is that Babcock is looking to unload Jalen Rose. If Olowokandi is coming the deal looks a lot better. If it's done right it should get us some cap space for next year. The best part about the trade would be the touches normally taken by Jalen could be used by CB4 + CV, etc ... It would still probably leave a pretty big void in terms of leadership, but bosh seems to step up a lot when it comes to that. I noticed he talks to guys a lot on the floor after a play etc. He didn't really do that in his rookie season. I think what the raptors really need is a slasher and someone who can get into the paint because right now all our guards shoot too much from the perimeter. We really need someone with a drive first mentality like Carter had before he went soft on us. It should help open up the floor and create shots for the rest of our team. To me that's our biggest need .. not a centre
jalen is selfish on a sub .500 team and wally is an outcaste on an contending team. both are upsurpers in their own way but wally is injury prone and jalen is not, plus he's got more years on his contract than jalen.
Rose selfish?? dude what the hell is wrong with you? I think Rose is one of the guys we have that makes the Locker Room Calm Dont you see him in games trying to make the fans cheer? I honestly think he is worth all the money he is getting and we should not trade him for some rubbish players(Kandi, draft pick, and some bench player) If we trade him we should get back something that will benefit us and if this does not happen than no. We should keep him

I would never take Wally for Rose or anyone from Minnesota for that matter (no offence). Rose is no longer an All-Star performer, but he's not mediocre...he is more than an average player who calms everybody down. If we lose Rose, can Bosh step up? I'm pretty sure he can, but he already has enough pressure put on him becoming the new franchise. We need a player like Rose - guys like him don't come around often and seeing as Babcock is just making us believe that he's doing something...well, only time could tell.
Thanks but no thanks. Szczerbiak has complained in the past about playing time. We definitely don't need another distraction on this team. This team was a travelling circus last year. Szczerbiak can't create his own shot, his defense isn't very good and he isn't even an improvement over Rose. So why would we want him and his bloated contract? Like someone already mentioned, Rose would be a lot more attractive to other teams if not for his contract. Let's just wait for Jalen's contract to expire. We can sign someone better than Szczerbiak for 12-13 million. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">He's an above average player at best</div> I think you're underrating him. He scored 18.5 PPG in 33.5 MPG (26.5 in 48 Minutes). Even if his defense is garbage, he is better than just an "above average player at best". How many average players can score close to that? He's certainly not an all-star but he is better than what you make him out to be.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting baller4life13:</div><div class="quote_post">I definetly dont think the Wolves should give up Wally for Jalen because Jalen is getting old and Wally will develop into a better player</div> Jalen Rose is a great ball player. He is a grossly overpaid ballplayer, but a great player none the less. If he was making 5 million a year, teams would be breaking down the ACC doors to get him. 6'8'' point forward who can hit the open 3 with decent consistency. Very smart player in the low blocks who can pass very well out of the double team. He causes a lot of mismatches with his size and skill. The 2 big knocks against him is that he doesn't play D, and his shot selection is questionable. He is not the JR of old, but he is not washed up either. Look at Finley, teams including Minnesota have come calling. Would you trade Szczerbiak for Finley. Jalen had better numbers than Finley and Szczerbiak last season. 2 reasons why people think Jalen is old and washed up. His contract is bigger the his play warrents (it's a monster contract) and because he is playing in Canada.
...oops, one other thing. The trade would have to include Szczerbiak. I would guess either Szczerbiak and Olowokandi OR Szczerbiak and Hudson for Rose and probally Loren Woods. At least that would be my guess. There wouldn't be too many other combinations that would make sense. KG for Jalen and Hoffa perhaps???
