Chat With The Hornets? Jamaal Magloire

Jamaal Magloire's goals for himself and the New Orleans Hornets are simple.
"My personal goals are just trying to, for one, win the Eastern Conference. I think team comes before self," he said on the eve of the 2003-04 season opener. "My other individual goals include getting bigger, stronger, quicker and more effective offensively as well as defensively."

So far, he and his team are on the right track as the Hornets are near the top of the East and he has improved his averages in minutes played, points, rebounds and even assists from a year ago.

Turning heads as an up and coming center in the league didn't go unnoticed by the Hornets, who signed Magloire to a contract extension before the season began.

And if he keeps up his impressive play in the middle, this "Big Cat" could be prowling around the NBA All-Star Game and help his team claw their way to an Eastern Conference Championship.

That's what I've always liked about Magloire. The three young players(other than Baron) who had a lot of potential in 2000-01 were Magloire, Lee Nailon, and Eddie Robinson. Of the three, Magloire was the only one who put team ahead of himself. He didn't make a big deal about coming off the bench behind Elden Campbell, whereas Robinson and Nailon chafed to some degree when they weren't starting and getting their numbers(Robinson more than Nailon). Jamaal has always just played his game, and its turned him into one of the best centers in the East.
