Would he be a good fit at 2? I have to admit I was gleeful when he left town before but I think his game has matured and I think he has accepted the fact that he is more useful as an off guard than a point. Wise investment? We sure could use his 15-16 ppg. http://blogs.ajc.com/hawks/2011/11/28/atlanta-hawks-jamals-free-agent-journey/?cxntfid=blogs_hawks
I always liked him, and he had a good run with NY and Atlanta. I think he'd be a great fit, but there are issues. First, PaxDorf may have burned any bridge necessary that he'd consider signing here. He definitely shoots a lot and is very streaky. He's never had the kind of commitment on defense that the Bulls demand. For the latter two reasons, the fans will turn on him quickly. IMO.
I'd be thrilled if you could get Jamal Crawford. I don't think you'd use him as your starting two guard, but we have to move away from this obsession of trying to find a starting shooting guard. The Bulls need more lethal scorers who can create their own shot and carry the team on their backs for stretches. It would be an easier fit if that came from a shooting guard, but who are you going to get? Eric Gordon -- no. Stephen Jackson -- no. Aaron Afflalo is a descent scorer but Denver looks set to overpay for him. I think we have to look to other positions. I'd use Jamal as an off-the-bench threat and try to get him twenty to thirty minutes a game with both the starters and the bench.
