Re: JaMarcus Russell is the Real Deal! I have watched him over the last two years and I have loved what I have seen. The kid is tailor-made for Al Davis so I could see him being picked 1st if he declares for the draft. There is little reason not to draft him. None of that, he's too short stuff because he is 6-6! That's great height for a quarterback. He can make plays running and passing. He has a cannon arm and very good accuracy too (higher than 68 completion % this season). I was in awe after watching him throw two PERFECT 58-yard passes today. He has been pretty clutch the last two years also. I remember his clutchness very well after he led LSU to an amazing comback over ASU 2 years ago capped off with a great pass on a 4th and 10. The only real thing I saw that I didn't like is that sometimes he makes some dumb throws, but I think he'll learn and get better as his football career continues on. This year he was pretty good about it. He only threw 8 interceptions this year which would be about 1 INT per 42.5 passes I think and he did throw for 28 touchdowns and ran for 1 in the toughest defensive conference in the nation. He also had one of the top QB ratings in the nation at 168. Everyone's #1 pick, Brady Quinn after this bowl game probably finished with a QB rating under 150. Russell also averaged 9 yards per passing attempt compared to Brady's 6.He still has 1 year of eligibility left and even though I really like him I think he would benefit from 1 more year in the college game. He has only started the last two seasons I think(shared some playing time 3 years ago) and he still does make some bad decisions so he should stay at LSU for 1 more year and get better. I think he will be a top 15 pick right now, maybe lower depending on combine results and what position teams decide to draft for if he chooses to declare, but I think he is going to be a great pro.
Re: JaMarcus Russell is the Real Deal! That 58 yard pass he had off of one foot was absolutely amazazing.
Re: JaMarcus Russell is the Real Deal! He is pretty amazing that is for sure. He out shined the Maxwell guy- what is that kid's name again? I can't remember- in the bowl game. The announcers were talking about how Russell can throw the ball 85 yards standing, 60 some on his knees, and like 40 on his butt- W.O.W. He is a great runner, like a power fullback. The nice thing about him is, even though he has that running ability, he doesn't run when he gets nervous. He remembers he is a quarterback first and he looks for the pass before the run. He does tend to think he can squeeze the ball in anywhere and he attempts some risky throws, but he will learn. I would take this guy before I would take Quinn. If you can, wait a round or so and take some other guys, then pick him up. But I doubt that he will be floating around the draft pool that long if he decides to go to the NFL.
