Simple, James will team up with Carmelo Anthony and Dwyane Wade for the rookies, while Boozer will team up with the likes of Amare Stoudemire, Manu Ginobili, and Yao Ming.

If James and Ming are selected by the coaches to play in the All-Star game, they will play in both contests.

James can have a busy weekend if he is selected for the Sprite Rising Stars slam dunk contest.

The contest sounds fun. Lebron, Carmelo, and Dwayne Wade should be great in that contest.

Boozer really deserves it. His game has really come together and I never realised he was such a good shooter.

That jump shot was something he was working on all year. He didn't have that mid-range shot last year nor in college either. Paul Silias and the shooting coach got together with Boozer a few months ago about improving his shot. Seems to have paid off.

That would be crazy! If that occured, they'd of course be the first(and second) to play in both games in the same season. The only rookies to even make the all-star game during the existence of the rookie game have been Grant Hill, Tim Duncan, and Yao Ming, and none participated in the rookie game.

Really, I think that that's how it should be every year(or at least every year a rook or soph makes the ASG), so they can still participate with others their age or experience level.

I agree starman, but the NBA is clearly taking advantage of these 2 rookie classes that we might not ever see again.

If those 2 are selected, they won't play long minutes I believe.

    James, Anthony will join forces

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">NBA's premier first-year stars set to play together in Rookie Challenge

If you can't beat him, join him.

LeBron James couldn't beat the Denver Nuggets' Carmelo Anthony in high school and so far is 0-2 at the pro level. But the two will join forces next month for the Rookie Challenge at the NBA All-Star Game in Los Angeles.

James and Anthony were named to the rookie team on Tuesday. It will take on a team of second-year players. He'll be playing against Cavaliers teammate Carlos Boozer, who was named to the sophomore team.

For the first time, the game will be played on Friday of All-Star Weekend, which is Feb. 13, at 9 p.m.

Happy Birthday, congrats. Man this sounds like it's gonna be sick. It's nice to see a workhorse with talent, Boozer, finally getting recognized and being given a chance. This is going to probably be one of the more entertaining aspects of the All-Star Weekend. I'm really looking forward to it.

Rookies take this, they will have more hunger. Bron, Melo, and Wade will toy with these cats.

    Book it.

    Collins/Scott to coach James

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> The got milk? Rookie Challenge will be televised in prime time (TNT, 9 p.m. ET), for the first time in the game?s 10-year history.

Collins, who will coach the Rookies, has been an integral part of the NBA since he was selected by the Philadelphia 76ers with the first overall selection in the 1973 NBA Draft. He was selected to play in four All-Star Games (1976-79) during his eight seasons with the 76ers.

Scott, a 14-year NBA veteran and former New Jersey Nets head coach, was selected as assistant coach for the Rookies. The fourth overall pick in the 1983 NBA Draft, Scott spent 11 seasons with the Lakers, including a 10-year run with the club?s "Showtime" era, earning three NBA championships (1985, 1987, 1988). In June 2000, Scott became head coach of the New Jersey Nets. In just his second season, he took the team to the NBA Finals following a 26-56 mark his rookie campaign, recording the largest turnaround in Nets history..
