With the start of the NBA Finals two days away, there is bound to be a lot of talk about what LeBron James’ legacy will be, based on whether the Cleveland Cavaliers win or lose against the Golden State Warriors.

James’ 2-4 or 3-3 record in the Finals will be compared (fairly or unfairly) to Michael Jordan’s 6-0 record, especially if his sixth appearance doesn’t result in a third title.

When comparing James to others, however, it is important to account for the strength of his team and of the opponents he's faced. NBA Basketball Power Index accounts for both of these factors in its projections.

This is a good read. Much of its nuance will be lost on the casual fan though.
