The bottom line should be the fact that he will be in Laker colors next season. There was alot of proof (plus the obvious IMO) that this was something that shouldn't have even been brought up. I bet Kobe's thinking that guys do this ALLLLLLL THE TIME, and he had to find that special little one. I wish he would counter-sue because this just shames his name and shouldn't just be shrugged off.
This is a legal move by Jane Doe. The prosecution team realizes they don't stand much of a chance to win because the judge is going to allow her sexual history as evidence. If she loses the criminal trial she hurts her chances of winning in civil court against Kobe. If Kobe is victorious in civil court, I hope he turns around and counter sues Jane Doe for all the money he lost in endorsements, legal fees, and the personal effects he's suffered because of her lawsuit ... ie defamation of character.

And they certainly didn't want to set a losing precedence before going into a civil case. Now they plan on suing for $75K plus punitive damages. I have to imagine there's going to be a plea bargain and this will never go to trial.
I hope KB doesn't have to pay her anything either. But all that really matters is that he's in the Laker uniform next year. What really gets to me regarding this allegation is she's worried about the haters talking behind her back and ridiculing her, and she didn't see this coming from the beginning? If she's going to accuse a huge NBA star, or better yet anybody of rape, she better find a way to proceed with the case, and find someway to find a conviction. Because filing for a civil suit just shows you're looking for a large amount of money, and if she can get as much cash as she demands, Kobe will be left alone. And I agree with Shapecity tremendously on this issue. I really hope Kobe sues this young lady for tarnishing his image.
Kobe is not going to countersue. Unless the girl is extremely wealthy, she would just file for bankrupcy. I realize that Kobe would not actually be suing her for the money, but he wouldn't accomplish much bu countersuing.
Kobe should and can counter sue. Kobe doesn't want money he wants his name clear and IF I were Kobe I would punish her for damaging my image and dragging my name through this whole ordeal. He could sue Kate for defamation.
