"Catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia will not be returning to the Rangers' roster Friday, the first day he is eligible to come back after being optioned to Triple A.

The Rangers want to give him more time to work on a change to his throwing mechanics, said general manager Jon Daniels. Saltalamacchia is now throwing from a lower arm slot, which allows him to get on top of the ball better.

Daniels said there are no physical issues with Saltalamacchia, who went on the disabled list the first week of the season with an upper back strain. Saltalamacchia has an 11-game hitting streak. "
