It sorta seems like a lot of people never really get all hyped over Jason Richardson these days. So i guess i'll try to get some good JRich vibes going. First off, i really love his passing as of late. He's averaging 4.7 assists in March and 4.4 assists over the past 5 games(compared to a season's average of 2.6 assists per game. And an even more impressive thing is that the Warriors haven't really shot that well lately neither, which means it's harder to get assists). He's been able to get the ball down low and maxamize Dampier's production. I love how he had that olly oop to Dampier against the Kings tonight and i loved in the fourth quarter how he drove and beat his man off the dribble to get to the paint, then found Dampier down low for an easy 2(even though Dampier missed but got fouled). He has trouble dribbling through traffic along with everyother Warrior outside of NVE and Speedy. And when he cleans up his ball handling through traffic, i think his turnovers will go down a little bit, since it seems as if there aren't that many turnovers coming from his passes. Also on defense it looks like JRich has gotten a lot out of playing and probably watching film of Pietrus playing defense. It looks as if JRich has been getting out there playing tough defense lately. He still gets stuck up on screens, something both he and Mike will have to work on this offseason. But i like what i see from JRich. He looks as if he's becoming a player that is trying to take this team on his shoulders. I like that. It'll only make him work harder and learn and develop more quickly.
I have noticed that he has been racking up the assists lately. Way to go Jrich. Bringing up his assists will only help his development into and all around offensive player. We all know he can score, he is one of the leading rebounding guards, and now if he can average over 4 assists per game.
He was only out there for a little while until Dunleavy came back in. Some teammates had to bail him out when a double team came, but he's gaining more confidence handling the ball. I mean he doesn't have to look down or anything to make sure his hand is meeting the ball when it comes up. If that were the case, he'd be in trouble. He's got some crossover moves and he can dribble between his legs and behind his back. It's his mental game and decision making that makes him turnover prone I think. If you've ever played point and had a good defender on you it can be scary enough for you to lose your cool because you worry about losing the ball and not taking care of it. I think as long as he is cautious and doesn't try to force a dribble between two defenders he should be okay. And if he is trying to go between two defenders, he should tuck that ball up like a football and step into the lane and finish.
