Jason Kapon & Jamal Sampson <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">June 23, 2004 Press Conference Jason Kapono, Jamal Sampson Arrive In Charlotte OPENING COMMENTS: General Manager & Head Coach Bernie Bickerstaff: The two young men here we think will play an important role. We will create an opportunity for them to do the things they think they can do and that?s play in the NBA. We feel real comfortable that they can contribute to the Charlotte Bobcats. What I liked about it is that after they got in town, we were in the Draft Center and we got a call that the guys wanted to workout. So our coaches immediately left the Draft Center and headed down to South Carolina to the Bobcats Basketball Center. We did have one problem, we had to find some shoes for one of these young men. We?re still having trouble with them ? I won?t mention the size, but we will find you some. In Jason Kapono, I?d like to introduce to you a young man who can really shoot the basketball. That?s why we want to find us some guys who would be willing to set screens and sacrifice their bodies so that he can get open and all he has to do is the easy part ? put it in the basket. We?re very happy to have him as a part of the Charlotte Bobcats. Jamal Sampson has a tremendous amount of talent and you can see the size and the length. We are creating a great opportunity for Jamal to come in and excel on the basketball court. Our goal is that we want to be the best expansion team that?s ever been. </div> Full Story Seems like these guys are here to stay which is good, Kapono and Sampson should be starters. Sampson's got off to a bad start in the league, not playing much in Milwakee or L.A. but in L.A. in 10 games in 13 minutes a game he averaged 5.2 rebounds and 2.9 points on 48% shooting. Sampson should be the starting center and Kapono at the small forward. This Bobcats team doesnt look that bad to me as it's being proclaimed by everyone.
I agree with you L.Sooch, the Bobcat's don't look very bad to me like they are hyped up to be. On paper they look bad though, that's probably why. Sampson and Kapono will most likely be starters and they should produce well with Sampson's rebounding and Kapono's sharp shooting. Overall, Go Bobcats Go ! Nice Find L.Sooch
That's SoCal pride right there...Kapono is from Artesia High School (and UCLA) and Sampson is from Mater Dei High School ....I've been following both of their careers since they were just prep stars and I wish them the best of luck...
