I was informed of that news somewhere and the source comes from ESPN. I explored ESPN but came up with no such piece of news. Any further confirmation do you guys have on this? We need Jason! Houston love him!

Well he's past his peak and is just starting his decline now. Like most veterans who havn't tasted NBA gold, I'm sure he's looking for a place to end his career with a ring. Kidd TMac and Yao should ensure us a championship before Kidd retires assuming we have the defensive minded role players to back them up. I would like to see Sura in the starting lineup though.

If Houston can somehow get Jason Kidd next season, then they will automatically be a top 3 team in the league. He is older, but his skills have not diminished that much. He can still elevate the game of players around him, plus he plays defense.

    Your starting lineup should be:
    PG - Jason Kidd
    SG - David Wesley
    SF - Tracy McGrady
    PF - Juwan Howard
    C - Yao Ming

That's pretty solid. Maybe you can pick-up another starting power forward, but that would be pretty formidable line-up already.

We still need a defensive/rebounding PF

Haven't the Rockets talked about getting Donyell Marshall from the Raptors? I think he is a unrestricted free agent next year.. he would be perfect.. a shot blocker and a very aggressive rebounder. Plus we get our 1st round draft pick... too.. maybe Wayne Simieon? Whatever happens this year... We are gonna clean up next year.. especially after one year of our team playing together... (if we don't lose anyone major of course)

Marshall has stated he would like to play for phily, so there's a slim chance he will play for us. Frthermore, i can't see a significant contribution from him to the Rockets besides his three points.

What would we have to give NJ? The only thing I could think of is dead cap space, maybe throw in Vin Baker, Weatherspoon, some draft picks and cash...I just dont think we're willing to give up what they want...

So assuming Kidd is not an option, I think all we need is a PF...preferably along the mold of a PJ Brown, someone who has defensive and rebounding presence...that would send Howard to the bench, and him and James could be a deadly scoring punch...plus we should re-sign Barry and Deke, and also ship Wesley if we can find a pure shooter (such as a Kyle Korver) at the 2 spot...I love Wes, but he's too undersized for the spot and if he's not hitting his shots, he's not helping...Either way, this team basically needs to stay the same and keep the core players (Yao, TMac, Sura, james, Howard, Barry) because they've given this team a winning identity...another PF and a scoring 2-guard and we'll be set...

I don't see it happening. The Nets owner said he wants to spend more to build around Kidd-Carter-Jefferson, and is committed to winning instead of trying to make a quick buck. Adding a Jason Kidd is always great, but I think the Rockets have a good enough backcourt to make the Finals. The combination of Sura and James fits into their scheme and gives them both a big guard and quick guard. The big need is to get more size up front. Deke has been great, but he's a free agent, and I don't see him producing for more than another year or two. The power forward spot is very weak, even with Howard starting. The Rockets have a lot of assets this summer plus a draft pick to address those needs. Teams will be interested in the expiring contracts of Vin Baker, David Wesley, Moochie, and Spoon.

With the Rockets winning they won't have to overpay for free agents, and there is a lot of big men available this summer. They should try to steal Reggie Evans, Gadzuric, or Udonis Haslem in free agency. They also might be able to get PJ Brown for cheap from the Hornets.

Like Shape says, Houston doesn't need any help in the Guards department. We need help up front badly. As far as I'm concerned, Yao is the only big man that we have along with Deke. We don't have any rebounders. It's a good thing our guards are exceptional rebounders (Sura, Tmac) but that is not their job.

We need a couple of legit big men badly. I really hope Mutombo gets resigned and yes, it might sound far fetched, but I hope PJ Brown comes to the Rockets... He would be the perfect player that we need. Then for the backups, I would love to have players like Jeff Foster or even Eduardo Najera, who plays hard and tough on the boards.

I would love but doubt that jason kidd would come to houston. We dont have the money to please him. We have to give yao his extension and leslie alexander is not very rich at all.

Ric Bucher (sp?) reported that Kidd would want to come to Houston. Just inside information, not really any word of mouth from JKidd himself.

That being said, I highly doubt we would be able to get him anyways. As good a player he is, leaving Carter and Jefferson is a decision that would shape his career .. for the good or the bad. If Kidd was in a position to demand a trade, which he is, though it would be kind of stupid (Pretty Damn Good Team There.), there is no reason for anyone to believe we wouldn't be able to afford him. We have the option of unloading a bunch of contracts in the offseason, and a bunch of expiring contracts. But, I do not think Kidd would be a reasonable expense cap-wise. We still need a athletic, rebounding power forward, NJ surely would want our pick.

I would so love to get JKidd. But the only way I see us getting him is another type of Vince Carter to NJ trade. Nothing for a All-Star.

if we fortunately have Jason Kidd's assistance, we can pack up BOB SURA and DAVID WESLEY for a trade and get a taller SG. This position after all is too weak at the defensive end.

We had Jim Jackson at SG and that wasn't doing us all that good. One of the reasons for our success this year was going with a quicker backcourt with Wesley. In most cases, adding size hurts you in the quickness department. I would probably stick with Wesley for now and see if they can add more scoring off the bench in the offseason and maybe a defensive PF.

I'd like to see what this team can do for a full 82 games together, they might be able to win 60 if they can keep the team together.

I don't know about packing both Sura and Wesley away. They've been one of the major factors why we've been able to hold our own in the guard's department. Sura brings alot of toughness and grit to the team. He's also an above average rebounder for a PG. Wesley I'm more inclined to trade away since he's been disappointing anyways.

However, what we really need is, again, a damn PF. I do not want Jason Kidd in Houston. Would I love it if he comes though? Not at all. Kidd's game and the Rockets' game are not the same. Kidd thrives with high-flyers (the likes of VC, K-Mart, RJ, etc.) and the only high flyer on our team is TMac.

I would really love to throw away some of our trash though, namely Vin Baker and Charlie Ward..

I guess I'm gonna be a loner in this topic, but I wouldn't want Jason Kidd here......I'd rather the rockets concentrate on getting a strong PF, so we can have James and Howard coming off the bench
