ok this was in the nets forum where everyone was arguing with one kidd about how jason kidd was in the top 2 in pgs. this kid swears hes not even in the top ten he made a list and put kidd @ ten when he said he shouldnt be(ill put up the list in a while. he swears kidds not a good pg but wont say why. please someone who doesnt thing kidd is in the top lets say 3 pgs in the league explaing why they feel this way.
Well like I said in the Nets forum, which everyone ignored, because they were to busy insulting each other... <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">I see a point guard as a player who?s job it is to distribute the ball to his teammates, and make sure the offense runs smoothly, and in the right direction. So as a ?point guard? Jason Kidd is as good as they come in the NBA. Him and Nash have to be the best players who fit that description of a player running an offense while at the same time distributing the ball to his teammates. MAKEOUTCITY true some of those players you listed average better statistics then Jason does, but none of them are at Jason?s level as a ?point? guard except perhaps Marbury (not that big a stretch). One thing people have to remember is that Jason was coming off a injury when he was playing all last season so he had that lingering all season. I do not think he ?lost a step? not quite yet, but rather that he was not fully recovered when he was playing which was the reason he did not play at the level he has the past few seasons.</div>
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Best Kept Secret:</div><div class="quote_post">Well like I said in the Nets forum, which everyone ignored, because they were to busy insulting each other...</div> And you're basically telling me that Jason Kidd, who looked nothing like the Jason Kidd who took his team in the Finals 2 years straight was 2nd best PG last year? IN THE WORDS OF CHUCK SWIRSKY..."ARE YOU KIDDING MEEEEEEE?!?!?!" He was not #2 PG last year, not #1...more like a top 6...other PG's earned better recognitio;n definitely. you can not say that Chauncey Billups was not better than Kidd last year because Kidd had an overall better stats throughout his career. We are talking about last year...and last year, Kidd was definitely not as good as these PG's: #1 - Nash, #2 - Billups, #3 - Marbury, #4 - Parker, #5- Jason Terry.

You had not said ?last year? you had simply said he wasn?t top two best in the league. When healthy like he has shown the past three seasons in New Jersey he is the best setup man in the league (along with Steve Nash).

Jason terry? hes good but certainly not better than Baron Davis.
Marbury,Parker, Terry? ARE YOU KIDDIN ME!! Marbury got his team no where. Terry barely did anythin either. It was mostley Dirk, Finely, and Stack. Parker get outta here. It was all Tim Duncan with a case of Manu a couple of times. Also stop changin ur list!!

Now, just please...someone please...GIVE ME A REAL REASON WHY KIDD SHOULD BE #2 PG LAST YEAR...AND please don't use stats that weren't from last year to back your answer up.

But didnt we start this argument asking if Kidd is the 2nd best point guard in the league, Not just from last season? A healthy Jason Kidd is top 2 in the league PERIOD. I don't see how you can argue that.
umm, look in the other forum and you should see my answer. i don't see why people can't respect some dude's honest opinion though...*sigh*
Your opinion and your backup answers are bogus. After you see that your losing the discussion your trying to change what you are saying.

I have not disrespected you for your opinion once during our debate, only simply countered your points with facts. I agree with you that once you add the words ?last season? into the argument your point is valid that he is not a top five point guard in the league. However, when healthy his talent is undeniable I am not a big Jason Kidd fan, but I respect the mans talents.

I am sure a lot of people would take it as you calling him overrated in general. In fact I would not find in that thread once were you stated he had a dissappointing year last season and should not have been considered a top five guard last season. Until I got to the fourth page of the Nets thread here. Word you statements a bit better, and it will help your argument when people know where you are coming from. You sparked up a good debate though.

Jason Kidd is my man, but last year he sure wasn't the greatest of point guards. But still overall, he's one of the greats, its just last year he had that slump because of his injury. Even despite his injury, he still had that handful of triple-doubles, so it wasn't ALL that bad. Hopefully he'll be back to his regular 9 APG this year.
Kidd was a top 5 PG last season also, no doubt, no question. Kidd played only 66 games last season, and for the first 10, he was still feeling the burn from his injury. While playing only 66 games, he led the league in triple doubles, and he was #8 in Total Assists. In addition to that, he was #2 in Assists PER 48 minutes [should be #3, Brevin Knight didn't qualify because of injury], and #3 in Assissts PER game, while playing on a team with only one real option. So he beat out Jason Williams, Marbury, Parker, Dre Miller, Watson etc etc, all guys who had more offensive options and better offensive teams in assists PER 48 minutes, while only having Carter as a real offensive option on his team. Just to add to that, he made 1st Team all defense, scored 14.4 PPG, grabbed 7.3 RPG, and averaged 1.86 SPG. If we're counting injury, the PG's last season would rank: 1) Allen Iverson 2) Steve Nash 3) Stephon Marbury 4) Jason Kidd 5) Mike Bibby If we're just counting production while they we're on the floor: 1) Allen Iverson 2) Jason Kidd 3) Steve Nash 4) Stephon Marbury 5) Mike Bibby
