<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Nets seem set at point guard, with Jason Kidd for the present and Marcus Williams for the future. So it would take a special talent for them to veer away from their need for size in the NBA Draft and grab a point guard with their No. 17 pick in the first round.

Javaris Crittenton of Georgia Tech might be such a talent.

"I would say with his talent level, if he got down to 17 he would definitely be in our mix . . . [but] he's probably a lottery talent," said Nets GM Ed Stefanski after another joint draft workout session with the Knicks yesterday in East Rutherford, where Crittenton, Virginia Tech guard Jamon Gordon and Serbian big men Vladimir Golubovic and Marko Lekic auditioned for the two teams.

Crittenton, 6-5, is the latest in a long line of talented Georgia Tech point guards, following the likes of Mark Price, Travis Best, Kenny Anderson and Stephon Marbury. Crittenton has received advice and counsel from Orlando Magic star Dwight Howard, a close friend and former high school teammate. Crittenton said he spoke to all the former Tech points, except Marbury. And though continuing the school's rich point guard pedigree, his standard of excellence at the position is a guy from Cal who is familiar in New Jersey circles: Jason Kidd.

"I can shoot the ball, distribute. I'm athletic, I'm a play-maker," Crittenton said. "I feel I just have to improve upon my decision-making, making the right play every time like Jason Kidd, who's here in New Jersey. He makes the right play almost every single time down the court."

Crittenton is forecast on draft sites to go from as high as 10 to as low as 20.</div>

Our top priority is to get a big man, so unless McRoberts is gone, I wouldn't even consider taking Crittenton. And honestly, I still have faith in Williams, even though he hit the rookie wall mid-season. There really isn't any reason for us to draft another playmaker, unless we plan to use him as trading piece.

This would just be moronic, you have Kidd and Williams already, why take another PG? Especially when you have no real capable big men.

am i the only one who thinks Mcroberts is going to be a bust? the only reason i sordof think he may work is because he was a porjected top 5 pick after high school and his freshman year, but his sophmore year he was spoce to be the leader and he completely vanished
