Former super featherweight champion Javier Fortuna (35-2-1, 23 KOs) was injured after he dove out of the ring tonight in his fight against light welterweight Adrian Granados (18-6-2, 11 KOs) in the final seconds of round 4, causing the referee to rule it a no contest at The Fortuna at The Star in Frisco, Texas. Fortuna, 28, had to be taken out of the ring on a stretcher. However, looking at the final sequences of the fight, Fortuna looked like he didn’t hit his head at all. Granados slightly pushed Fortuna, but not enough to make him fall out of the ring. It looked more like Fortuna. There were a lot of disappointed boxing fans with the way the fight stopped. It looked a lot like how Bernard Hopkins was injured when he fell outside of the ring in his fights against Joe Smith Jr. and Chad Dawson in the past. Thankfully, tonight’s Granados vs. Fortuna fight wasn’t the one that the fans had come to see, because they would have been furious if this head been the main event.
