wat do you hawk fans think about gettin jay williams some way? I have heard he is back and better than ever or atleast back to his oldself. He was a really good point guard in college and better than chris paul, raymond felton, deron williams IMO. If we could get him somehow then we could draft marvin williams and have a really nice young core. It would look something like this......

    pg. jay williams
    sg. josh childress
sf.josh smith(or marvin here and josh at power forward)
    pf.marvin williams
c: someone through free agency like dalembert or stromile

what do you guys think of getting jay williams? would it be good or bad? can we get him?

I think somebody should sign Jay and give him a second chance at what was his profession. I'm pretty sure Williams has been working hard to come back and if he can stay healthy on the same level as he was as a rookie he can be a good addition to many teams in need of a point guard. With the Hawks' situation it wouldn't really hurt them to give this guy his second chance.

JWill said he wants to play for a contender, and even though the Hawks could be a great place for him to make a comeback, I don't think they are on his short list.

My guess is JWill ends up in the East coast playing with the Pacers, Celtics, or possibly even the Pistons.

He wont be the same guys. At least I dont think that he will. He has hype about him coming back but he would be lucky if he got playing time much less points. I could see him going to the Celts like Shape said and He could be starting because I see GP retiring. If he does start I think he wont get over 30 minutes and he will get around 10 and 6.

The Pistons would be a nice fit for him, getting to play behind Chauncy. That way he can ease back into the game. Because no matter how much practice and workouts you do, nothing compares to the real thing.

See that?s what I don't like. I want to play for a "contender". I understand nobody wants to be on a loosing team but that doesn't seem like the right attitude for someone who almost lost their career. Jay Wiil should be happy to play for anytime that will actually sign him.

Jay Williams is not better than Delonte West Imo if his game lost anything, Ainge loves Delonteand desires to groom him into the pg of the future, anyway i think gp will stay in boston 1 more year. Jay Williams would make a better backup, starting a guy you don't even no canstill play is a bad idea.

I don't really agree with you on this. I think if a contending team is willing to offer him a contract, he will take it. Who would not want to play on a contender. But if no contender wants him, he will be forced to be signed by a losing team.

I haven't read or heard anything anywhere that said he "wanted to play for a contender" I think right now he just wants a chance to get back into the league regardless of where it is. All I've read or heard is that there have been a couple of teams that have contacted him.

I understand that, what I'm trying to say is he shouldn't hold back from other teams if the best teams do not even want him.

Silky has it guys. Their is no reason for him to be asking for a contract to a good team when we dont even know what he will do in a real game. They can say he is fine battling aganist the trainers and stuff. But, if you get a contract offer from the Hawks least you playing in the NBA.

Jay would be prefect in Phoenix. The kind of system where he can show his style and would be their future point guard. Most reports have him taking It to the top point guards in this years draft. So that surely must mean he is close to playing at a high level again.

Settle down there, fellas. His first choice is Chicago. We paid him when we didnt have to, he's going to give us a shot at getting him back.

*cue "The Bulls Don't Need Him" posters*

In a sense, you may be right, but Pargo and Duhon are both going to get offers from other teams. If one of them is gone, then Jay will fill in one of their spots, assuming that he can at the very least be a servicable bench player. If Jay is 80% of what he was, our current PG's could be used as trade bait for a draft pick to get a servicable bigman to be the back-up bigman when TC is starting and AD retires.

And no, Frank Williams is not coming back.

Chicago, at this point, doesn't need him. However, if we don't get back Duhon, he could be useful. If he's back to his old self, he is likely to be better then Pargo. We need a 2nd string pg to run the offense when Kirk isn't on the court, cause quite frankly, I don't know if Ben Gordon is capable of handling pg responsibilities.

With Detroit, I don't know if they really need him. With Billups as the starter and Carlos Arroyo as 2nd string with 3 years left on his deal, where is he going to fit in the lineup? That's my problem with him going there. If he goes there, he could end up to be the next Mateen Cleaves. Great collegiate player, but gets buried in the bench and never gets a chance to show his abilities.

I doubt Williams will be better than ever. After not playing for two years, he'd definitely be out of shape and holding up for 82 could be tough. Thus, it could be good for him going to a contender and not playing a lot of minutes as a backup.

However, if he signs with a team like Atlanta and Milwaukee where there would be no pressure to perform, it would be good for him too. Right now, as a young player, he should just be happy to play in the NBA.

How about Marcus Banks and Justin Reed for Tony Delk and a 2nd Round Draft Pick. Nothing major, Atlanta needs a point guard and I would like to see TD back in Boston...lol. So make the trade!!!

Haven't you seen the thread in the Raptors section? (probably not lol) if i am not mistaken he said "Next year, I will be playing. Count on it. It pumped me up for the Toronto Raptors to call and see how I am." i know its not 100% but if this isnt a possible signing i dont know what is

I dont think Jay Williams will make an instand impact when he gets back but I do believe that after a year of playing at NBA level he can be better than the player he was before his accident. Jay wont sign with the Hawks unless it's his only offer, I think he's gonna go to somewhere like Toronto or Phoenix or even New Jersey.
