<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">There is good news for the Jazz on the free-agent front. And a bit of bad, too. The good: Multiple California newspapers reported Sunday that Golden State center Erick Dampier, as expected, has opted out of the final two seasons of his contract with the Warriors. The bad: The Jazz are not the only team expected to show interest this summer in 6-foot-11 Mississippi State product Dampier, who would have earned nearly $17 million over the next two years had he not opted to become an unrestricted free agent. Dampier and big man Mehmet Okur of the Detroit Pistons are expected to be two of the top targets for the Jazz in this summer's NBA free-agency market, which opens with a negotiating period that starts Thursday and a signing period that begins July 14. But Dampier, who turns 30 next month, will be a man in demand.</div> Full Article courtesy of DeseretNews I'd rather Utah try to sign Mehmet Okur than Erick Dampier, unless they expect to make the playoffs. The reason being Okur is almost 30, he may not have many seasons left in him and probably doesn't want to play in Utah. Okur could fill the whole at C, and could stay in Utah for a long time.
