Jazz take cheap shot at Malone, Ko--

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The mascot (a bear) held a mock telephone conversation with a Malone impersonator over the Delta Center's public-address system that went a little something like this:

"Go tell Larry [Miller, the Jazz owner] I want to come home," the faux Malone said. "I don't care if Stock ain't there. I want to come home. They're mean to me here. They don't give me the ball. They don't like me."

As the crowd cheered, faux Malone added: "But, I guess it could be worse. I could be Ko--."
    </div>

That is a cheap shot right there, Malone made that franchise, along with Stockton and Jerry Sloan...and to stab him in the back like that is wrong....and then bringing Kobe in their is even more of a low blow...do they realize that Kobe's life could permanetly change forever?

Sad, and pathetic for a team to pull something like that, especially it being the Jazz. I would never expect even the Lakers' biggest rivals ( Kings, Mavs ect. ) to pull this kind of stunt, but Karl's team of 18 years... just sad. I've gotta say the Jazz fans surely aren't too loyal to their players either, from what I heard they cheered their asses off when they heard that. I wonder how Stockton felt when he heard this.

This obviously was designed for a bit of fun for the fans, but some people got offended by it, mostly loyal Laker fans. Most Jazz fans today, don't want Karl Malone back that much, not because they dont like him, but more they don't need him and enjoy the new look Jazz. Bringing Kobe into was wrong, but the Malone part was all a joke, and I have no problems with that.

It'd be funny if the Jazz were actually going to make the playoffs.

that was low! after what karl malone has done to that organization, this is the payback he gets. i don't know what the hell utah organization was thinking. maybe they better think of basketball instead of insulting their best player in their team history. so what's next utah, are you gonna pull a joke on stockton, too?

No, he played for Utah his whole career and they'd never do that. The Utah Jazz franchise has more respect for John Stockton now than Karl Malone. They don't hate Karl Malone, they still have respect for him but they were just trying to entertain the crowd and make the best of the situation.

The Utah Jazz were fined $15,000 by the NBA for a mascot's skit that poked fun at Karl Malone and the legal troubles of Kobe Bryant, Bloomberg News reported Friday.

The league has yet to announce the fine.

they deserved it, you dont make fun of a mans legal problems unless you are a comedian, but if you play in the same league as him or are any way associated w/him, you should try to support him, and that Malone thing was disrespectful, I dont care if the fans liked it, they do not appreciate what he did for that Franchise...i want to know what Sloan was thinking while this was going on.

The Malone part was part of the Jazz's love/hate relationship with him, on the surface they don't like him any more, but deep down they really respect for what he did for the Jazz. They were bound to make fun of him, thinking he'd be ok with it but he wasn't. The Kobe part was taking it to far, way to far and they should of been fined for that.

I think that was a low blow. Not only that, but like Malone said, a show of no class.

i've always thought of the utah jazz franchise as one of the classiest in the business. now i'm having my doubts. i'm not sure who was behind the whole act, but to pull something like that on malone is downright low and no matter who it was, they tarnished the whole reputation of the jazz and had no right throwing kobe in there. even if it was all in fun, the team owes malone a public apology after all he did for them in the past.

This is as bad as it gets in terms of Loyalty. Having fun is fine but it shows no respect for Karl or Kobe with the Jazz doing that skit. Having fun?? I think the Jazz just lost a lot of respect to do that to one of the people that made that franchise what it is. And to bring Kobe into that was a low blow as well.

Someone plays for you for 18 years and this is what you do to him? And what happens when he retires? Will they be able to take that back and retire his number?

It will be a sad day if they retire Stocktons number without Karls in Utah and it will be all because of the stupidity and lack of loyalty the Jazz showed Karl.

The Jazz lost more than 15,000$, they lost respect

Jazz Franchise = lack of class

well i am not a jazz, laker, kobe nor karl malone fan. I actually dislike each i mentioned, however from a NBA fan's perspective that was just flat out wrong no matter how u cut it. The jazz knew it before hand just decided it was worth the heat they'd take for it. The malone part was bad and the Kobe part was awful. jazz fan or not u know it was wrong. [IMG]

Now this is why I hate pranks and professional sports sometimes. It really demeans people and hurts their feelings. Poor Sloan and Malone, both are so respectable. Thanks for sharing, I seem to have changed my views of the Jazz thanks to this....
