On some levels, the Utah Jazz know what could and should happen this offseason. On others, the debate continues in the front office. There are two ways Utah's summer can go. The Jazz can settle in with their young core and fortify their depth behind it. Or they can use their bushel of assets and attempt to accelerate the rebuilding process. It's a quandary for a team that went 38-44, played well down the stretch and established itself as one of the more impressive young squads in the league. The Jazz seem ready to take the step toward playoff contention. But can they do so, if they choose to largely stand pat? "We're actively discussing whether the timeline has been changed and been sped up," said General Manager Dennis Lindsey. But what exactly are the Jazz working with? The coffers look like this: The Jazz have $12 million in cap space to work with. Depending on what happens in the upcoming NBA draft, that number could dwindle to as little as $10 million, or swell all the way to $18 million. If it's the latter figure, Utah has the cash to dole out a max-type offer to a free agent, should it deem him worthy. There are a few good players who will be free agents. With the bushel of picks built through the next few drafts, a trade for a veteran or moving up in the draft could be in play. Either way, the Jazz need more depth, which means they likely will make some moves — even if they aren't headline-grabbing. - See more at:http://www.sltrib.com/sports/2454585-155/utah-jazz-have-dollars-but-will
