<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Jazz are the only NBA team never to take part in the draft lottery, so maybe they just don't know what the pingpong-ball drawing is like. Because Jerry Sloan and Kevin O'Connor talk about the lottery like it's oral surgery with rusty pliers. Actually, some teams love the lottery. A few franchises -- Cleveland and Denver come to mind -- were made by the lottery. Given the choice of a first-round playoff ouster or a ticket in the NBA's PowerBall, wouldn't the Jazz like to try the odds just once? "Absolutely not. Not for a second. Not for half a second," scoffed O'Connor, the Jazz's vice president of basketball operations. "Anyone who thinks Larry [Miller] or Jerry would ever say, 'Well, we're better off in the lottery' doesn't know our franchise and our people and how we do business." </div> Link
I agree, I want the Jazz to make the playoffs. I don't want the lottery unless we could someway get the first pick and Okafur. Hopefully we can get Kris Humphries in the draft and make the playoffs and I will be a happy camper.
I'd be happy either way, but if Utah got in the playoffs that would easily be my favourite Utah Jazz moment. If you said that Utah would make the playoffs at the start of the season, you'd be laughed at and called stupid. If they don't make the playoffs, Utah will finally get a good draft pick and I know it'll be a good one. Look what they can do with late first rounders, namely AK47, Stockton and Malone. Also, I wouldn't be dissappointed in Utah, they're going to exceed almost everyone's expectations. Believe it or not, Utah are still in the process of rebuilding, and they'll be finished soon. It took them one season to get out of rebuilding and go for the playoffs, teams like the Clippers will take a decade. There's advantages either way, and Utah will have more than 1 first round pick this draft. But as Spark22 said, go after Kris Humphries if he's eligble. Or any other PF.
