SALT LAKE CITY -- The Utah Jazz agreed to settle Glen Rice's contract Friday, just three days after acquiring the veteran swingman in a trade with the Houston Rockets. The deal will allow Rice to pursue options with other NBA teams. The Jazz did not say how the contract was settled, but Rice, 36, was in the last year of a $9 million contract with Houston. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=1629997 This move wasn't unexpected, it was rumoured to happen just after the Jazz acquired him. He wouldn't of got that much time but his scoring could of been of use to Utah. It helps the salary cap so Utah will have another chance at a big name free agent. He might end up being San Antonio's replacement for Stephen Jackson
Replace Jackson in SA? LOL. Rice can't log that many minutes anymore. The Spurs already have someone better than the both of them, Hidayet Turkoglu.
Off the bench I mean, I agree he couldn't handle a starting job at this stage of his career. But he could give valuable contrubutions at SG because San Antonio are quite inexperienced at the SG position and Hedo hardly got any minutes last season and he may not adjust as well as SA are hoping he will. That was just my idea it come to mind after Stephen Jackson being signed by ATL. There will be teams out there that want him.
