Sure, a long, athletic center would be a big help.
But Miller thinks of a team with scorers Andrei Kirilenko, Carlos Boozer, Mehmet Okur and Matt Harpring already on the roster, and readily senses what is missing most.
"I know it points a finger at one or two guys," he said, "but with the right distribution mentality . . . you make those other three or four guys that much better, (and) we're right back in the hunt."
In other words, on a 26-56 club that started five different point guards this season ? Carlos Arroyo (traded after 30 games to Detroit), Keith McLeod (he had the most starts among points, 46), Raul Lopez (his season was limited by knee surgery to 31 games), Howard Eisley (back for a second stint with Utah) and Randy Livingston (he arrived late, beginning with a 10-day contract) ? not one among the bunch proved worthy of instant starter status for seasons down the road.
In other words, not all will be back in 2005-06.
Livingston, a veteran journeyman, seems to anticipate his fate: "If not here," he said, "hopefully somebody else will give me a chance."
Eisley has higher standing in Miller's mind than some might suspect, but he, too, appears a likely odd man out.
"It's hard to think of . . . Howard not coming back. Because I like him," the Jazz owner said. "But . . . when you start counting names and looking at roster spots, is there room for him? Even at 14 or 15, I don't know."
    That leaves Lopez and McLeod.</div>
