"You've got to be confident. Not cocky, but confident," Williams said in interviews in a press conference Wednesday at the Delta Center. "You've got to believe that you're ready for this and that you can play with the best of them, and that's how I believe."
In fact, Williams thinks he'll find some love here as a pass-first, enjoys-defense rookie. "It's a great roster," he said. "Especially the front line. I'm definitely going to enjoy playing with those big guys and getting them the ball.
"I think they're going to love playing with me because I'll make the game easier for them."
In a disappointing, injury-filled 2004-05 season, Jazz players would have loved something to be easy other than losing. "I look forward to the challenge running the team as a rookie," said Williams, who patterned himself after all-star Jason Kidd, but, hailing from Dallas, knows about the Jazz. "I think it's a great tradition here. John Stockton and Karl Malone paved the way. They're used to winning, accustomed to winning. That's what I'm accustomed to doing. So we go hand in hand," said Williams.
"I'm ready to get out there and start playing and make these Jazz fans happy."</div>
