Interesting because one of my most glaring memories of high school was my freshman English/Lit teacher ranting about how many people (himself included I reckon) couldn't wait for him to die to get a hold of all of the work he's done since he became a recluse. Haven't read it since I was 14 but I thought Catcher in the Rye was pretty lame. If a book about the thoughts of a whiny-as-fuck young man struggling to cope with adulthood can make you a fortune then I'm a fucking gold mine. I gotta start documenting my uninteresting complaints and thoughts.
haha. i think we wrote letters to salinger as an assignment. as for catcher in the rye- i must admit- i thought it was a defining book of my adolescence, although, today i would dismissed young holden's bitching as conspicuous rebellion. nevertheless, in grade nine- i identified with him.
