He claimed to be an all-styles kickboxing champion back in the day but his kickboxing record has been a matter of some dispute. Some claim he has no amateur credentials but others say that is only because he didn't fight as Van Damme, rather as Van Vaerenbergh. Blackbelt Magazine back in the day did an in-depth on him and determined he wasn't an accomplished amateur, IIRC. He'll be fighting Somluck Kamsing in Vegas this March. The 37-year old is a 1996 Olympic gold medalist who fought at featherweight. Van Damme (real name: Jean-Claude Camille Francois Van Vaerenbergh) is 49-years old.
