I hope this is nothing but.......

This writer wrote after the Cavaliers traded Darius Miles for point guard Jeff Mcinnis that he could really help the Cavaliers if the problems that have plagued him his entire career didn't their ugly heads. Apparently, the Cavaliers and coach Paul Silas got their first brush of the Jeff McInnis Experience.

Through a source Cavs Talk has learned of an incident before the recent Cavaliers game in Chicago against the Bulls that now has Paul Silas doubting whether to lobby for the picking up of McInnis option for 3.6M dollars over the summer. The incident supposedly occurred before the start of the Chicago game after Silas gave out the defensive assignments. After Silas gave McInnis the task of guarding Bulls SG Jamal Crawford instead of PG Kirk Hinrich McInnis is said to have openly complained to Silas in front of others on the team about having to guard Crawford. The quote attributed to McInnis through the Cavs Talk source was him saying, "C'mon coach. Give me a night off. You always put me on the best player." It is said to have not only upset Silas enough to now question retaining a player he has done nothing but publicly praise since his arrival but it is also upset Lebron James who took the comment as a slight.

Yea thats not a good comment to make....expecially infront of the whole team, if it's true. And that would explain our terrible game in Chicago. Hope it's not true, but if it is I got to side with Silas on this one.

If he did say that, and I'm not so sure about the source, I'd say that's detrimental to the team, and he should have gotten suspended by the team for one game. If players can question the head coach's authority on a regular basis, then he slowly loses power.

    Hope it's not true.

if there was a problem in the lockerroom, it has not effected the chemistry on the floor, j mac has been stellar as of late, and the cavs seem to love him on the floor. still, i hate hearing this stuff j-mac, dont give cleveland fans reason to doubt, we'll run our point guard out of town alot faster than we ran that FLOP of the century browns qb out of town for crap like that.

IMO, Its nothing big, Jeff just wants someone else "LeBron" to step up and start taking on better players on defense.

I understand why they would put Jeff on Crawford instead of Hinrich.

That does not matter though, Jeff should want to play their best players.

If this is true, then hey, forget picking up his option, we don't need that kind of attitude here.

Why can't Lebron take Crawford? I thought he was a decent defender.

As for the comments thats just selfish. I would be honored if asked to guard the best player on the team.

But you can't mess with success, since Jeff came over (along with EW and Battie) the Cavs have been on the up and up.

But McInnis is quicker than LeBron is, and Crawford playing a lot of PG in his career it's still a great matchup anyway.

James is a good fit on Hinrich because Kirk would have a hard time driving and shooting over Bron.

The Bulls are not set on that backcourt by any means, they will keep Hinrich, but they want a bigger 2 guard.

If we would play the Bulls again, I would do the same thing. Hinrich got his last time thanks to a lot of pick and rolls and LeBron taking chances playing passing lanes and playing help defense. You just can't leave that guy open.

being one of the older players on the team i can understand Jeffs frustration with his situation. Jeff is a huge part of this cavs squad and i hope he stays in cleveland for a while. but jeff come on man tone it down your almost in the playoffs.

What Jeff had to say is better left in a private meeting with Silas. Airing disaprovals like that can cause disharmony. I hope it is just a bump, in an otherwise smoothe road.

hopefully it's just someone looking hard for a story

mcinnis has really been everything you could want out of a point guard and has raised the level of this team so much

I don't think any "professional" player is capable of doing that. If he did say that, then he isn't taking this game professionally and should be released. Besides, he should be proud that he's being delegated with the task of guarding the best players of each team

^Should be released? thats a little to far. every team always has player/coach problems every once in a while. McInnis is to valuable to release. If what you mean what you said than i guess you would think the sixers should release Iverson?

Hinrich is also a good offensive player anyhow, so either way Jeff would have a tough match up.

Silas also could have thought that LeBron could have more rip aways off of Hinrich because he handles the ball more.

McInnes is a better defender at this point than James. Silas figured, and correctly, that Crawford was a bigger offensive threat so he deceided to make the switch.

Crawford goes 4-18 and 11 pts against McInnes, so it worked. The other end of the switch turned out to be disaster. LeBron got beat all night and Hinrich goes off for 22pts, which turned out to be the story in the game..................Tank

There has been no further news of this apparent McInnis outburst since this thread started. However it has been followed by further strong performances to show that there are no ongoing problems affecting us on court. Another 30 assist night tonight led by McInnis with his double double.

He has been beyond expectation. Also good to see Ollie with a couple of solid games backing up as well.
