<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Jefferson, traded to Milwaukee for promising 7-footer Yi Jianlian and veteran Bobby Simmons, responded via text message to Nets team president Rod Thorn. "He didn't seem very happy," said Thorn, who emphasized yesterday he had not yet spoken to Jefferson. "I spoke to his agent, I called him, texted him. I like Richard. He was here for a long time and I'm sure he still expected to be here. Unless you are the one pushing for it, it's always difficult when you are traded. You are going to a new place, have new teammates. It's hard at first." Thorn has other work looming as the free agency period starts tomorrow. Teams have a two-week courtship period before they can start signing players.</div> http://www.nypost.com/seven/06302008/sport...appy_117909.htm I feel bad for RJ, he was a true Net.

i'm a college nets fan from jersey .. anyways i've been reading these forums for a while and finally decided to sign up. While I have never been a huge fan of RJ and always thought he/the organization misunderstood his role both after bringing vince and especially after trading kidd, i feel like in a lot of the recent threads on this forum, he is not given enough credit for all the years he has worked for this organization. While I didn't feel like he was a good fit, especially last season, i never questioned his loyalty and his dedication towards the nets. he was a strong competitor, a non-whining team player, and a fierce player who simply misunderstood his role. i never thought there was never a question of effort when it came to jefferson. He's truly the last one to go from our glorious kittles/kvh/kidd/kenyon era and while i do believe in the new direction kiki and rob are heading in, i believe that people should remember him in a more fitting way. i truly believe jefferson loved being a net.
I be pissed too, as a matter of fact I am still pissed off about this trade. Bad Thorn, Very Bad Thorn.

Don't know how it was a charity related game if they didn't drum up money via tickets. -Petey
I don't feel bad for Richard Jefferson. He's going to earn 13 million in about six months of work and he can have all the fur coats and Wisconsin girls he can handle.

I feel the same way. The amount he was getting paid, and how it strained the Nets' $ flexibility did bother me though. Invite your pals, hope to see ya stick around. -Petey

waaaaaaaah, I'm getting paid more then most people will make in their lifetime to play 82 games of basketball.

He will be missed. But the plain fact is he made himself expendable by the way he played for the last couple of years. He has no one to blame but himself. If his defense were more up to par, the team would have had a harder time letting him go in a trade.

Nort Milwaukee is one of the worst places in this country the Crime rate is high and it is a very dangerous place to be. I just hope RJ gets to take in a baseball game of my favorite team now that he is in Milwaukee.
