<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">New York Times - Jared Jeffries hurt his wrist in the Knicks' victory over New Jersey on Friday and a Sunday MRI revealed that he has a non-displaced fracture. Isiah Thomas expects him to miss 3-6 weeks, despite the fact that the injury will not require surgery. ?It?s all about your pain threshold and how fast I heal,? Jeffries said. ?If I heal fast, then the doctors will let me come back sooner.?</div> Link Well, he's going to miss 12 games at most, with 4 being the last if his recovery is speedy. If you were Isiah, how will you approach the season without Jared Jeffries?
I think this is a big loss. Though his stats might only appear mediocre, watching him out on the floor you have to notice all the intangibles he brings to the table. He can pass well, rebound well, handle the ball, while he draws charges and intimidates the player on offense with his long arms. He's a nice complimentery piece to the Knicks frontcourt of Curry and Frye. The question now is who will start at SF now? The options: Rose, Q-Rich, Lee, and Balkman. To me it all depends on who performs best in preseason. While Richardson has improved, he's very inconsistent. Basically, he's either hot one game and cold another. Isiah hasn't been too thrilled with Rose thus far, which is why he's been on the bench a lot. Rose is similar to Jeffries with his versatility, but Rose is also terrible on D--something Jeffries is not. With the lineup loaded with offense (Marbury, Francis, Curry), there isn't a need for Rose who only provides help offensively. Balkman is young, inexperienced, and hasn't really earned his way yet. Lee is my choice to start. He can gives us rebounding in the frontcourt, just as much versatility with his hustle and defense. After developing the occasional fifteen footer, he shouldn't be to much of a liability. Plus his ball handling and passing skills are very good, so he should be the perfect player to replace Jeffries.
Good for him! I'm so glad he's injured, that back-stabbing, two-timing piece of sh.. I never did like him, but he left a good situation in Washington to a scene of mass destruction in NY.
WOW, BALKMAN(sp?) SHOULD START. Even though its preseason im wathcing him against the celtics, he does everything, he rebounds plays inside, can bring the ball up, is a good defender, seriosuly he should see a lot of play time with his hustle
Nah Balkman shouldn't start. Most likely Q-Rich will start. I'm serious Knicks fans that this is a HUGE blow for your organization especially since you just signed him.
