<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">PHILADELPHIA -- Little-used forward Chris Jefferies said he was excited to be out of Toronto, mainly because there was a cancer inside the dressing room. "Everybody there was cool. I liked everybody except one person, and I heard he was cut," Jefferies said yesterday.

The former Fresno State star forward was referring to Raptors backup point guard Rick Brunson, who is no longer with the team.

General manager Glen Grunwald is currently exploring ways to rid the team of Brunson's contract.

Jefferies, who was traded to the Chicago Bulls last week, said Brunson, who played very little but was said to be a favourite of coach Kevin O'Neill, brought nothing to the organization or the team and got on people's nerves.

    NO HELP

"I don't see why he was there in the first place," Jefferies said. "Because it wasn't really like he was helping the team at all.

"I had lot of feelings about that, as did a lot of people, not just me. A lot of the other guys."

A Raptors source confirmed there were some problems between Brunson and other players but would not elaborate.

There was a perception, however, that Brunson was too close to the coach and that didn't sit well with some of the other players.

Grunwald said that having three players who can play the point -- newcomer Jalen Rose, Alvin Williams and Milt Palacio -- made Brunson the odd man out and that's why he was being moved.

Jefferies, whose work ethic was questioned in Toronto, was on the injured reserve list when he was traded.

"I was excited (about the trade) because when I was there I wasn't seeing any daylight at all," he said. "Plus being on injury reserve, I felt I wasn't going to play at all. Coming here is a better opportunity for me."

Bulls coach Scott Skiles put Jefferies on the floor for five minutes last night in an 83-82 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers and the sophomore NBAer had with one assist.

Skiles used Antonio Davis and Jerome Williams, traded along with Jefferies to the Windy City, extensively in last night's game.

Davis, who started his first game for the Bulls, responded with 13 rebounds and seven points while Williams had seven boards and seven points.

a player not serving a purpose on the team? how about roger mason jr? is he really injured or just on the injured list? cuz sdome players arent really injured when they are on the list, so if hes not really injured, he shouldnt be on the team...he does nothing and is collecting paychecks.

i still dont like the fact that they gave up marshall, he was doing very well with the bulls...they should have given fizer or robinson and mason jr. or rose, fizer, robinson, and mason jr for davis, williams, and peterson.
fizer doesnt do much, and robinson hasnt done a single thing since coming from the hornets.
