Jeremy Chardy easily advanced to the second round of the BCR Open Romania on Tuesday, while seeded players Victor Hanescu and Daniel Gimeno-Traver both lost. The eighth-seeded Chardy needed just an hour to dispatch Guillaume Rufin of France 6-0, 6-2 after breaking his opponent five times.
