http://www.insidehoops.com/nba_rumors.shtml<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Indiana Pacers forward Jermaine O'Neal was fined $5,000 by the NBA for wearing his wristband too high up his arm. "It was an inch too high," O'Neal said before Saturday's game against the Chicago Bulls. "They said we can't wear wristbands on our elbow this year. They said we can't wear two wristbands on one arm. I had it on my elbow. I couldn't believe it when I found out."</div>Are you kidding me? Like... honestly? I don't even want to say anything more, because I'll go on a huge rant and swear up a storm at David Stern. But are you kidding me???

Now this is just retarded, wear your wristband on your elbow and get fined 5,000 dollars? These people in charge are on a huge power trip, and I can't figure out why they would want to piss off the players, because without the players they don't make money.

I would just like to point out that these fines are pretty much the same fines the NFL hands out for uniform infractions. Players know the rules and shouldn't act like babies, hell I'm more happy about this money going to NBA charities than Jermaine spending it on a TV.

So now every time players put something on, they should bring a ruler and measure how far up their arm it is? This is stupid, what did it harm having his wristband on a little bit to high? Did it destroy the reputation of the league? I personally didn't even notice his arm band, I was kind of to busy watching the game to stop and say "well hell, his arm band is to high, that's screwed up." As for that more happy about it going to charities than tv's, if he wants to spend his money on a tv, what does that hurt? He earned that money, he worked hard to get it, and he should decide where that money goes. Not loose it for wearing an armband to high.

NBA fans needs to chill out over these fines, it's not a big deal at all.

I think Fidel Castro must feel better, because I think he's giving advice to the upper echelon of the NBA.

It might seem stupid but the leagues doing it for a reason.

This is absurd. He shouldnt have even been fined 5 dollars for that. For having his wristband 1 inch too high? Christ, is he supposed to examine it, and measure it so it is the appropriate length? Why is their restrictions for the length of a wristband anyway? This is absoleutely ridiculous.

Some babies on this forum don't seem to understand that Stern has a reason for it. God forbid Jermaine O'Neal get a small fine, seems like most of the other NBA players understand the rules and are following them...but as soon as Jermaine cries foul people think Stern is hitler.

I agree with BCB. 5g to these guys is like $20 to us. Its not a big deal. It goes to a good charity. They get paid millions of dollars, they should be able to follow a dress code. If McDonalds workers can do it why not NBA babies?

If he has a reason what is it then? How does it seriously effect the league or Stern that Jermaine O'neal or any other player has their wrist band on, just a little bit to high?

If he knew ahead of time (it sounds like he did), then he doesn't have a ton of room to complain.<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (nba dogmatist @ Nov 12 2006, 06:11 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>this is a BASKETBALL discussion forum. if were an nfl forum, I'm sure more of us would actually care about what goes on in the nfl.</div>I think his point is that there isn't any real difference between what the NBA is doing and what other leagues do. You never hear bitching about other leagues. I recall the NFL getting on Bill Belichick's case for how he dressed. The one thing I might think is that $5,000 dollars is a bit excessive, but it does send a message that they want the rule to be followed.

He might have had it in the right spot, scratched his arm or something, and moved his wrist band just a bit without really noticing or thinking about it.

What the heck? JO wearing a bad too high? I watched the whole game and didn't even notice he had a band on.This is ridiculous. On the other hand, $5,000 is about how much money is in between the seats of his couch. But still, this is ridiculous.
