    VITALS: 6-10, 230, Alabama

OVERVIEW: Named to All-Southeastern Conference second team despite a trying senior season in which both his brother and girlfriend were killed in separate incidents. Led Alabama for the third time in blocks with 70. Finished second on team in scoring (14.0 ppg) and rebounding (8.2 rpg). Scored a career-high 31 points and pulled down eight rebounds in a win at Louisiana State. Named to the All-SEC first team as a junior. Tied for second on the team in scoring (14.3) and led in both rebounds (8.9) and blocks (58). Had 21 points and 12 rebounds in an NCAA Tournament first-round win over Marquette. Led the Crimson Tide in rebounds (7.9) and was second in blocks (46) as a sophomore. Named to the All-SEC Freshman Team after leading Alabama in blocks (46).

    LIKELY DRAFT POSITION: Second-round pick

    COMPARATIVE UPSIDE: Robert Horry

    COMPARATIVE DOWNSIDE: Ryan Stack

ROLE PROJECTION: Scoring big man off the bench.

POSITIVES: Davidson has a good touch on the perimeter to about 15 feet. He's also got the athleticism to score around the basket, where he favors one-handed shots in the tradition of Wilt Chamberlain. Davidson has great potential as a help defender because he moves extremely well laterally for a man his size and has shown good timing for blocked shots. At times, Davidson can be an intimidating shot-blocker in the Marcus Camby mold, because with his skinny frame, he isn't scaring people away from the basket.

SHORTCOMINGS: Davidson has been plagued with inconsistency throughout his collegiate career. There were moments early in his career (especially the closing stretch of his sophomore season) when he gave indications he could be a dominant player on the college level. The payoff for that never came, although at times Davidson was a big factor on both ends of the court with his shot-blocking and his scoring. At the NBA level, Davidson is more prone to being outmuscled for rebounds than he was in college. It will be harder for him to hold his position on the block due to his lack of strength.

I really hope this kid gets a shot with everything he has been through. He has been as solid as you can get at Alabama and was one of the lone bright spots for Bama this year.

This kid has been through a lot, I sure hope he becomes successful. If you don't know what happened to him, here's an article.
