Apparently Jerry Porter doesn't like Art Shell or the Raiders anymore. He wants to be traded...

The Raiders, according to the report, are asking for TWO first round picks for him! *laughs* Good one...

A shame, though. If the Packers could sign Porter, that would be AWESOME!

Im betting it's one of those "Ghost" Injuries like the Ham string that plauged Mike Mckenzie while he was with the Packers, which suddenly healed after he was traded to the Saints.

Sounds to me Porter thinks he doesn't have to listen to his coach, and not surprisingly HOF coach Art Shell is not goinng to take that. If Porter doesn't straighten out he will get his wish because as Art Shell knows, you can't have players running the team, the Players need to do what their coaches tell them.

$13 Mil signing bonus and now he know's better than the HOF'ers in the room? He's showing a total lack of respect for Mr. Davis, Art and Freddie. The organization can't accept that out of a punk who has yet to have a 1,000 yard season.

The team can't bend or break on this issue, so either Porter is gone or goes into the infamous Davis Dog House, or Porter changes his tune and toes the line.

BTW, I agree that the calf injury is nothing more than a BS excuse. He was running sprints the next day with Gallery (PUP lister)

The Pack could sure use a deep threat but I don't think he's worth big time money. I'm sure Brett would keep him under control. Always a problem when disgruntled receivers don't respect their QB

Porter is sick and tired of losing ever year and thats why he wants out. He wants to go to a time that he can finally win games with.

Brilliant, well thought out and informed comments.

Porter has been with the team since 2000. Three winning season's and three losing. That includes a Super Bowl game touchdown (XXXVII).

Since you see fit to try to crap on the RAIDERS, allow me to help you with some basics.

For the record, the Panthers played in and lost just as many Super Bowls as the RAIDERS during Porter's career... have had only two winning seasons in that same span... and actually won fewer regular season games than the RAIDERS

First, he didn't say he wanted to go to the panthers, second the last 3 years Panthers went 11-5, 7 -9 and 11-5. The Raiders went 4-12, 5-11 and 4-12. So if you look at that the Panthers are the better team. Although I do think that if Moss stays healthy and Porter stays I think the Raiders have a chance to break even this season, but the Panthers will most likely be in the playoffs again.

Who said that Porter wants to be a Panther?

I'm not arguing who has had a better record lately. In fact, I wasn't arguing anything except that claiming that Porter's team loses 'ever' year was incorrect and easy enough to check if you want to present an honest argument and not just do a "drive-by". Since the false statement was obviously intended as a jab at the RAIDER organization I felt justified in presenting additional "facts".

I don't think that it's very likely that Porter and the coaching staff are going to be able to patch things up. A team-centric Porter and a healthy (also team-centric) Moss would certainly be an improvement over the strange doings of last season. But, the RAIDERS do have some depth at the position, certainly much more than at runing back, and if they are able to get some value for Porter they might be fine. Besides, the idea is suppose to be to rund the ball more this season. Shell is about hard nose trench battles. If he can convince the players, they may surprise a few teams this season.

Porter wants out because he doesn't want Art Shell...

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Porter told an ESPN reporter earlier this month that part of his discontent stems from the Raiders hiring Shell and not former St. Louis Rams coach Mike Martz, who was interviewed by the Raiders for the vacancy created by the firing of Norv Turner in January.

"I'm furious," Porter told ESPN. "They might as well trade me. I wanted Mike Martz as my coach and a real offense that's proven in today's NFL. Not something dusted off from a bed and breakfast in God knows where."</div>
Pretty funny quote, there, actually... [IMG]

wow suck it up and play for the guy they hired to coach you. I don't know how proven Martz is. He inherited a pretty good team in St. Louis and won pretty much nothing with them. In fact after Vinetari made that kick it went down hill.

Then again maybe Al Davis should've hired Martz just for Porter. He probably should just ask Porter what to do first so that he makes sure he's pleasing his underacheiving overhyped unproven WR.

With the weapons they have on offense martz makes sense. Plus al likes to go deep, which makes martz even more a logical candidate

When he fires shell at end of season, he can hire martz

Well, like I said, I don't see Porter and the team fixing this problem without Porter being man enough to say he isn't the man.

When your new head coach has to ask you in your first face-to-face, "Who the fuck do you think you're talking to?", there isn't anywhere to go but up/out.

On a personal level, I just don't like Martz. There's just something about him that makes me cringe. I also don't think that he would fit within the expectation if answering to Al Davis for what Martz would consider to be his and his alone. Didn't he run into some of that with the Rams?

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>When he fires shell at end of season, he can hire martz</div>
Davis has said that firing Shell was a mistake, and Al's not known for admiting mistakes. I don't think that there will be a coaching change for at least three season's even if the records don't improve.

That's what the Dolphins really need. Another disgruntled reciever that we can't get the ball to because our O-line can't block.

Maybe Miami should be looking to acquire the services of the other WR in Oakland. Perhaps the addition of Moss will solve all of Culpepper's issues.

No Porter or Moss in Miami. Thank you.

If Crazy Al wants to send former U of Utah player (OT) Barry Sims or even Robert Gallery to the phins, it would not bother me at all.
