<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">NEW YORK -- Washington Wizards guard Jerry Stackhouse was fined $5,000 by the NBA on Tuesday for throwing a basketball into the stands during a game. Stackhouse was ejected in the third quarter of Washington's 113-85 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks on Sunday after he tossed the ball to vent frustration over a foul call.</div> http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=1743290
A player shouldn't get frusterated enough to throw a ball into the stands, but I highly doubt it hurt any one. I think he should have gotten a T, but not thrown out of the game, and not fined. I foot ball and baseball players do that all the time. I know this is a different situation, but I don't think it's that big of a deal.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting coolhandluke:</div><div class="quote_post">A player shouldn't get frusterated enough to throw a ball into the stands</div> How about kicking the ball... twice? Gotta love T-Mac, lmao. Any player that throws a ball into the stands should be fined and suspended 1 game. It's irresponsible, it makes the player look bad, it makes his team look bad, it makes the NBA look bad, and more important someone could get seriously injured. What if he threw the ball and it hit some little kid in the face and broke the kids nose; guess who would be responsible? The NBA needs to enforce strict fines and suspensions when things like this happen to prevent it from becoming an acceptable practice in the NBA.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Ming637:</div><div class="quote_post">I don't get it. T-Mac kicked the ball into the stands two times and all he got was an ejection.</div> T-Mac was fined $10,000; twice as much as Jerry Stackhouses fine.
He deserved it, when you do some unsportsmanlike conduct you deserve to get fined, McGrady did it twice :-(
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting TheHitman:</div><div class="quote_post">He deserved it, when you do some unsportsmanlike conduct you deserve to get fined, McGrady did it twice :-(</div> That's the bottom line, bad behavior comes out in bad results. I was disappointed in TMac's behavior, I know it's frustrating but still, look at how cool AI and Pierce have been handling their situations. He doesn't even bad mouth anymore and he had to ruin it. As for Stack, he's always had a bad temper, he attempts to do better than he could do. I think he got what he deserved, just like TMac.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Magic Johnson:</div><div class="quote_post">look at how cool AI and Pierce have been handling their situations.</div> Last month Paul Pierce was fined $7,500 for throwing and kicking balls into the crowd after the Celtics got beat by the Magic. Also, AI was fined for making "obscene gestures" to the crowd in New York a couple of months ago, I can't remember how much he was fined though.
