<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Former Duke basketball player Brian Davis has reached an agreement to purchase Michael Heisley's 70 percent majority share of the Memphis Grizzlies, a source familiar with the deal told the Memphis Commercial Appeal. According to the newspaper, the NBA is expected to review the agreement this week. The source told the newspaper that the contract to sell the Grizzlies estimates the team's value at $350 million. Local ownership, which combines for a 30 percent share of the team, has the right to match the offer to purchase the team. The newspaper reports that Heisley's limited partners have 30 days to respond to Davis' offer from the point they receive official notification. The Commercial Appeal, citing team insiders, reported that the Grizzlies lost more than $40 million following the 2005-06 season, spurring Heisley to try to sell his majority share. If he is successful in purchasing the majority share of the Grizzlies, Davis reportedly plans to eliminate team president Jerry West's position in a cost-cutting measure, according to the newspaper. </div> <a href="http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2609333" target="_blank">Link </a> Shape posted this in the Grizzlies forum, and it got me thinking. If Jerry West leaves Memphis, could there maybe be a possibility of him returning to the Lakers organization? We all know that Mitch hasn't been doing anything special for this organization, so if we do somehow get Jerry West, it will be a major upgrade. I know he has had problems with PJax in the past, but they could work things out just like Phil and Kobe last season. I know it's a long shot, but I can't help but wish. After all, he was the mastermind of our three peat seasons.
Jerry West seems to be a good GM, If I was the owner of the Lakers and West was available I'd take him, maybe just have Mitch become assistant GM if that is possible.
lol, something happen to a ex-laker, then all of a sudden, it links to us. The answer is No. Jerry and Phil and Dr. Buss doesn't get along very well. You have 3 big ego guys who like to take control of the Lakers' future.
Jerry West had a very hard time being the Laker's GM. Although he can bring the talent, being GM took a heavy toll on him. It was hard for him to watch Laker games, and he would watch the game in the stands and if the game got too close or bad he would retreat to his office. Also, Jerry West hates Phil Jackson with a passion, and his relationship w/ Buss isn't so wonderful either.
