I agree though, he did have a great draft. Rudy Gay is probably the most talented player in the draft, and he probably has the most upside. That trade he pulled was unbelievable.
Re: Jerry West says that this was the best draft he's ever had He didn't even draft Kobe, he pulled a trade for him because Bryant didn't want to report to the Hornets or whatever happened in that situation. But as for his Grizz stint, I think it's a no sh*t remark that this was his best draft because he's been awful really. Gasol was his only good pick. I mean look at 03', one of the best/deep drafts. He picked Dahthay Jones and Troy Bell. Can't forget the Gooden mistake either.
Re: Jerry West says that this was the best draft he's ever had Well, if you want to go that route then he didn't draft Rudy Gay too. He got him with a draft night trade, just like how he got Kobe. So you if you count him drafting Rudy, then you have to count him getting Kobe too.
