"After his new Yankees contract was made official, Derek Jeter stated his anger with how public the process became. Sunday morning, Jeter pledged that was all in the past. "I'm happy. This is where I want to be, where I want to play. It's over in my mind,'' said Jeter, speaking in the same event tent at Steinbrenner Field where his three-year, $51 million deal was announced. That agreement also includes a player option for 2014, the season Jeter turns 40. And his plan is to exercise it. "If you ask me that question now, (my answer is) yes,'' said Jeter, adding that he's not about putting limitations on himself.
