"Jimmy Rollins doesn't mind going out on a limb.

The Phillies hadn't made the playoffs in 14 years when Rollins opened the 2007 season by issuing a stern warning to the rest of the National League East, proclaiming the Phillies the team to beat. He was laughed at by fans in New York and Atlanta, but the Phillies delivered a divisional title.

A year after that, Rollins promised 100 wins. The team didn't quite reach that mark in the regular season but managed to eclipse the century mark in the playoffs and hoist the World Series trophy.

Rollins likes setting the bar high, and with the Phillies already heavy favorites to win the NL pennant, he's doing nothing to temper expectations.

"We'll win 100 games," Rollins promised Saturday. "I really plan on going after . . . Seattle when they won (116). The record's probably a little bit more than that. We'll go get somewhere, hopefully, in that range."

Rollins offered the usual caveats about luck and health and all the things that go into a winning season that the players can't control, but by year's end none of that will matter."
