As you first read about in the Free Press back in March, forward Jiri Hudler will return to the Red Wings to honor the two-year contract he got in arbitration last summer, before ditching the Wings to play in for Moscow in the Kontinental Hockey League.

Petr Svoboda, Hudler's agent, made it official Friday, though it has been more-or-less a done deal for weeks. Hudler will be a $2.875 million hit against the Wings' cap.

I asked Nicklas Lidstrom about Hudler's return this morning. "He’s got great hands, he sees the ice real well and he can be a game-breaker, where he can score a goal or he can make that pass to win a game for you,” Lidstrom said. “I think it’s going to help our team.”
