The Orlando Magic are suffering on their long range shots. They are on the bottom half in the league in 3pt shooting. Their best shooter (Hedo Turkoglu 35% 3pt) is out for like 2 weeks. Keith Bogans, another one of orlando's shooters, is out up to 2 weeks. So tonight in Phoenix, this was the oppurtunity to finally play 1st round pick JJ Redick. And what do the Orlando Magic do? With Hedo Turkoglu and Keith Bogans injured, Brian Hill plays TRAVIS DIENER....yes.....TRAVIS DIENER .Are you kidding me? How in the hell did Travis Diener get 17 minutes of playing time tonight? If Travis Diener has a higher value to this team then JJ Redick, then say goodbye to JJ Redick for the rest of the season. This has been an on-going frustrating problem for Orlando Fans. The Orlando Magic need outside shooting badly.........Maybe they should play that guy from Duke that can like...shoot 3's? I heard hes pretty good at them. :ranting:
Thats all he can do, they would need him, but they should have a fun time getting him open. Put an average defender on him and he is done, his off ball moves stand no chance in the pros.
A big reason for Diener playing so many minutes last night, was because he was giving Steve Nash problems on the defensive end last night. In the fourth quarter when Diener was guarding Nash he started having some problems doing what he wanted to do. JJ Redick would not be able to cause problems like this on the defensive end, so I can see why the Magic didn't play Redick over Diener.I completely agree though, we need to get Redick into the game. This team is a horrible shooting team, 29th in three point field goal percentage, and 25th in three pointers taking. You can really tell during the games that no one respects us as three point shooters, because they go to zone's for long stretchs of game and just pack it in so no one can drive in. It would also give someone for Howard to kick out to, because he isn't yet good at passing out of double team to someone cutting through the lane, he is much better at passing back out to the three point line. They doubled Howard most every time he got the ball last night.
