The New York Yankees beat the Oakland Athletics by a score of 8-3. Starting for the Yankees was Joba Chamberlain and he got the win. When the A’s scored a run in the first inning I was like, oh no, here we go again with inconsistent Joba. He wound up shutting the A’s down after the first inning. He did a great job. I wasn’t too surprised that Joba was economical tonight with his pitches because he has to grow up some time and be the stud pitcher he’s supposed to be. Joe Girardi took him out of the game just in time. Joba walked a batter then hit a batter with no outs. It was his time to come out. Phil Coke came in the game and put coke on Joba’s fire. I know, it’s a lame joke. I was surprised when they said on tv that Derek Jeter had the highest batting average against left-handed pitchers this season. After I heard that I was confident Jeter would drive in a run in the third inning with Cano and Cabrera on third and second and he did. The A’s are a sloppy team. They made bad plays all game in the field. I don’t know if they’re not focused or if they are just a bad fielding team but they stink. I don’t see them winning many games playing like that. Brett Anderson, who was a number one pick for the A’s like Joba hung in there pretty well. He did as best he could against a machine of a line up like the Yankees. I found it kind of strange but not too strange that the Yankee fans booed Nomar Garciaparra when he got up to pinch hit. The guy hasn’t been relevant since he last played with Boston and that was a long time ago. Not only that, he didn’t even win a ring with Boston. I didn’t understand the booing fully but he “was” a Red Sox so I understand it a little. When Mariano was warming up, I got a kick out of watching him sit back down after Jorge hit a home run in the eighth inning since it was no longer a save situation. David Robertson made a little mess of the game in the last inning but the Yankees were too far ahead for it to matter. The Yankees really handed it to the A’s. Player of the Game: Joba Chamberlain. Gave the Yankees length and gave up only 1 earned run.
