Both were Lions #1 picks and finnished 2nd in the Heisman Trophy voting. Matt Millen did NOT want to pick Joey. He was clearly right on that call. Mariucci has worked with Favre, Young and Garcia. Even he won't get it done with Harrington or McMahon.

We need a Free Agent QB in 2004.

What's your guess Z-MAN, ELI MANNING from the draft or a vet like BRUNNELL?

The word I'm getting is that the Lions will live or die with Harrington next year. I think they'll likely die with any QB called "Joey". It looks like the Lions with draft no later than 4th and I'm hearing it won't be a QB. Who it will be will depend on what Free Agents they sign. They have a boatload of Cap room coming up in 2004. It will be a much different team next year. I hope they at least sign a quality veteran backup QB that can step in when "Sissy Boy" proves me right.

Harrington needs some pass blocking and a running back like Ahman Green who can run AND catch.

His receiver suck, too, with Rogers out! Get him some weapons, man! He'll be fine...

See what kind of year Harrington has if he's throwing to Terrell Owens and Charles Rogers and has a health Corey Dillon in the backfield.

I haven't watched him as much as you Zackman, but from the little I have seen, the kid may still be OK. Its tough to throw from off of your back.

Chuck Long actually had an offensive unit to work with. Harrington hasn't had much of anything. This year, with Stewart out and no running game to speak of, what did you expect from Harrington? Even Joe Montana didn't look like much when he was surrounded by a bunch of losers.

The best thing the Lions can do in the offseason is shitcan Matt Millen.

You may be right on Millen, but if you know anything at all about the Ford family you know that won't happen. I know Millen made some mistakes early but I think he did a great job in last year's draft and a decent job in Free Agency. "Sissy Boy" Harrington will have plenty of offensive weapons next year and then you'll see it was the Ford's who once again screwed this team with the Joey pick.

    PAC 10 QB's @ #1 - Akli Smith
    - Ryan Leaf
    - Cade McNown
    - Joey Harrington

Yea he'll be just fine ... LOL

I didn't get to seen enough of Harrington to make a solid judgement on how I think he will turn out, I do however have to defend the honor of PAC-10 football.

The guys you listed may have been first round picks, but as far as I can remember none of them was #1 over-all. Off the top of my head, here are some PAC-10 QB's who I know were taken at #1 overall - Jim Plunkett, John Elway, Troy Aikman, Drew Bledsoe. I think that you have to agree that they all turned out "just fine". Among that group there are what, ten or eleven SB appearances and six or seven wins. Like I said, how Harrington turns out is hard to say at this point, but I had to cover the PAC-10 on this one. [IMG]

LOL ... You know me ... I like to stir the pot! You have to admit that the more recent PAC 10 1st Round QB picks that I mentioned have been real busts.

Chip would you trade the Raiders 1st round pick for Joey Harrington? And if not what would you give up for him? I'm also intersted in hearing what other fans of teams that need a QB would give up for Joey Harrington.

Harrington looked pretty good trashing the Rams on Sunday... Changing your mind, Zackman?

He did play very well in games 1 & 16. But those other 14 were horrible. I think almost any NFL QB could have two good games if you gave him 16 starts. I'm not changing my mind yet ... but I would be happy to eat crow some day. [IMG]
