The Devils have a set goaltending tandem in Martin Brodeur and Cory Schneider but there may still be a spot in the organization for Johan Hedberg. The veteran goalie who took part in today’s 13th annual Devils alumni association charity golf classic at Upper Montclair Country Club in Clifton remains an unsigned free agent with hopes of playing in the NHL. If he chooses there is an unspecified position open with the Devils. “We’ve been talking about different things” Hedberg said. “Nothing is concrete. I’m still going to hang around the team. Not playing. It’s a great organization.” General manager Lou Lamoriello said: “Any time you have a player or person like Hedberg you find a spot. He is to me a prototype Devil.” Nevertheless the draft day acquisition of Schneider from the Vancouver Canucks squeezed Hedberg out. “I was a little shocked when it first happened” Hedberg recalled. “I was there (in Prudential Center). I think the same night I understood what was going to happen. I saw the writing on the wall. I had a talk with Lou in the morning and we flew home (to Sweden).” There was some early interest but not from the right NHL clubs and Hedberg remains unsigned. - See more at:http://www.nj.com/devils/index.ssf/...take_post_with_club.html#incart_flyout_sports
