I used to love the Peppers, but that love went away when Hillel Slovak died.

Well, the Chili's best stuff was up until 1992. But they were still pretty good now-a-days. Californication and BTW were incredible.

I'm with Wheels, this really hurts. John was one of my 2 main influences while playing guitar. I loved the guy like nothing else. Oh well... it's been a long time without John/RHCP for me, so I think it won't be too big of a change.

I just really hope the guy is ok and he isn't going into anything like the mid-90s.

yeah I think its more of the John not liking the limelight sorta thing. John just means so much to me as an artist... Josh Klinghoffer is his reported replacement.. which is kinda odd seince he did stuff on John's solo albums.

It's good that he's clean, because at least I can look forward to some of his solo stuff.

Honestly, I haven't been this depressed since Gary Richrath announced he was leaving REO Speedwagon.:ghoti:

All it means is that he doesn't want to do as much commerical stuff. My guess is he'll release some poorly-selling, but really interesting albums. The Peppers will roll on; nothing stops Kiedis and Flea. They're the Fleetwood Mac of the our time.

I seriously don't get the infatuation with RHCP. I'm bummed for people who are bummed about this, but I can't really understand why people would be bummed.

I understand the difference in musical tastes.. I would feel the same way about a metal band not being complete as well... But we're bummed cause the depth of music that they have/had now with John and what he brings is amazing. They have done quite a lot for music and the way its played, and the reasons its played. I hope to f-ing god this is a hoax.

or worse yet... back to "Warped" *shutters*

although Josh Klinghoffer is slated to be his replacement.. and if I had to choose a replacement (which sounds like I would) Josh would be it.. he works with John on his solo stuff and toured with and played with the Chili Peppers last tour.

Yeah, but still..Frusciante is just such an amazing musical mind. This is very depressing...very sad. I just hope Frusciante's head is still in the right place and he hasn't slipped up at all.

oh man I LOVE that cover of it. his covers are so stinking amazing. Last time I saw them on their Stadium Arcadium tour he did a disco cover of I Feel Love with Flea doing the bass. Then he did some Sunday Bloody Sunday.

maybe I'm biased lol but I dont think its that. I think this has to do with John the person and how eccentric and reclusive he is.. its hard to be that when you are in a worldwide mega band. But yes its his musical mind that is so so SO amazing. I feel like absolute crap today.
