Is it just me, or is John Paxson the most underrated general manager in the National Basketball Association. In the two years he has been general manager of this franchise he has managed to rebuild this organization from the ground up. He drafted or traded for four of our starting lineup this season with players like Kirk Hinrich, Chris Duhon, Luol Deng, and Antonio Davis. As well as bringing in a coach who is a great motivator in Scott Skiles who was able to motivate Eddy Curry to lose weight, and get into shape last off-season. Not to mention he drafted Ben Gordon as well who might as well have been a starter for us last season though he only started three games he was arguably the MVP of a very talented Bulls team.

Here is a run down of the moves he made as general manager so far not necessarily in order...

Acquired Antonio Davis, Chris Jefferies, and Jerome Williams via trade for Jalen Rose, Lonny Baxter, and Donyell Marshall
Acquired Othella Harrington, Frank Williams, Mutombo, and Cezary Trybanski via trade for Jamal Crawford and Jerome Williams
Acquired Griffen and Piatkowski via trade for Mutombo
Acquired Luol Deng, Ben Gordon, Chris Duhon via draft
    Acquired Kirk Hinrich via draft
Hired Scott Skiles fired Bill Cartwright
Signed Eddie Basden as a undrafted free agent
Signed Scottie Pippen to a two-year deal so he could retire a Bull (though we don?t like it so much now it was something we all wanted to see)

Those are just some of the big moves he made as GM so far as you can see he brought it nine players who were not on our roster pre Paxson. He also made the best out of situations that at times seemed hopeless with players like Jamal Crawford, and Jalen Rose. I was going to wait to see what he did with Eddy Curry and Tyson Chandler before I pretty much made a thread sucking up to the guy. Then I realized despite what happens with that situation he helped the Bulls achieve a winning record in three seasons when those that came before him did not even come close in four. With picks suck as Marcus Fizer in the first round.

I honestly feel this man is the most underrated front office personnel in the NBA today. We all know how great a job Joe Dumars has done with the Pistons, and the Suns GM has done with them, and Kiki with the Nuggets, but how about giving Paxson some credit. A lot of us give Skiles love all the time and over look that if it was not for Paxson he would not even be here at this point.

First the man helped us win championships on the court now he is helping us make a run at another one in the front office.

He didnt get Piatkowski through free agency. Im pretty sure he got Dikembe in the deal with Crawford, and sent him to Houston for Griffin and Piatkowski

Regardless though, he is doing a great job. I think a lot of people have started to notice though

Yes you are correct. I had forgotten honestly, don't know how. So I asked Ed if that was how we got him and he said yeah so...

I blame it all on him [IMG] [IMG]

^ Wrong. I made no mention of Piatkowski. I said uhh I forgot it had to be a decent sized contract to match Crawford. You need to do your research. [IMG]

Its not because he doesn't get talked about that much in the media, that people don't know what he' worth. He was a prime candidate for executive o/t Year last season, and i bet every coach/GM/owner in the league knows damn well that he did a terrific job of clearing out the bad contracts on the team and filling the roster with young talent.

I bet the Knicks wish they had him.
