Tall, muscular kid, guy by the name of Johnson. Trouble is, the Bulls' media guide doesn't list Linton Johnson either. The rookie free agent's playing history is detailed on an insert that is overlooked easily, kind of like Johnson was three weeks ago. Though an announcement isn't expected until later this week, it's becoming clear Johnson surprisingly will make the regular-season roster at the expense of Trenton Hassell. Johnson had two points, five rebounds and a steal in 21 minutes as the Bulls improved to 4-3 with a 94-91 victory in their penultimate exhibition. Hassell, who is the only Bull with a non-guaranteed contract, didn't play for the first time this preseason. "That's just the way it goes," Hassell said. Coaches are enamored with Johnson's work ethic, athletic ability and role-playing mentality. That he doesn't back down from a challenge like Carter doesn't hurt either. "He's a competitive dude," Cartwright said. That said, it's likely Johnson would begin the regular season on the injured list, given the logjam at small forward. Johnson, a 6-foot-8-inch forward from Chicago's Providence-St. Mel High School, is taking the last days before the final cut in stride. "I understand what's at stake," he said. "But at the same time, you have to stay poised. You can't let pressure interrupt your focus. "In college [at Tulane], I was much more of a scorer. Here, I'm just an energy guy?rebound, play defense." </div> I haven't seen him play, but he's got size, and having him at small forward wouldn't be a bad idea. Now we just have to get rid of Eddie Robinson..
