Guillermo Jones retained his WBA cruiserweight title with an 11th-round stoppage of Valery Brudov Saturday night.

The fight was halted in the 11th round after Jones (37-3-2, 29 KOs), a native of Panama, opened deep cuts around Brudov's (38-3) eyes.

The 38-year-old Jones, who began his career at 148 pounds in 1993, was fighting for the first time since winning his current belt in September 2008 with a victory over Firat Arslan.
